I like how it's just floating there, nothing to support it... great scene!

Love the glowing effects and the hard shapes! :] The angle makes the ship look even bigger and more impressive. Nice job!Β

I like it! Β I saw your reply to that other commenter about your process, how you start with volumes of color, light, and shadow rather than outlines. Β Never thought about painting like that, but maybe I'll try it sometime. Β It kind of shows in this piece too, in that some parts look very geometric and digital rather than painterly. Β Great work over all! Β Love the spaceship.

I need to learn how to make bg/landscapes.Β ): I wanna make nice pictures like this.
It looks good. ^_^ Looks simple in some ways, but overall detailed. How do you start something like this? Do you start with outlinesΒ and vanishing points, or do you start with big splots of color that becomes details later? (...I can never seem to figure out the right balance between those two things when I try something landscapey).
...What's spitpainting, and how's it different from speedpainting?

hey good questions!
I almost never do any kind of outlines or line drawings. Just block in shapes with big brushstrokes. Or use the lasso tool or shapes tool for sharp edges etc
It's really a matter of practice to get used to working like this. Instead of drawing the outlines of an object you paint the volumes, light and shadow basically. Almost like sculpting out the features gradually working from big to small.
Spitpaint is just a name for a specific group on FB where they limit them to 30 minutes and you have to paint them with spit (just kidding ). Same thing as speedpainting really
Hope it helps a bit, good luck!
