Description
This is my submission for the ArtSpace contest over at CGSociety!It was especially created for the contest although I could have submitted some older work of mine as well.
This was clearly one of the more time-consuming artworks that I did. Put in countless hours (I really don’t know how many) working on and off over several days until I was happy.
It’s all done in Photoshop, no modelling.
I did myself a luxurious favor and bought the Cintiq 12WX!
This was one of my first works using the tablet. It’s a pretty fancy device, but mostly unnnecessary luxury if you ask me...
I love using the ruler on it, painting the buildings like that was fun! And it finally comes close to how I work on paper when creating techy stuff!
Other than that, I really purchased it for doing more hand-drawn animation. It’s easier and more accurate to work on the screen like you would using a peg bar.
For speedpainting though, I prefer using it as a normal tablet, because your hand gets in the way and you lose the overview of your work.

When i first read the title, I thought you were going to be doing a speedpaint of the megastructure based off of Tsutomu Nihei's work.

I love this! It gives me the feeling of driving home along the highway, tired from work but happy to be finished, approaching my city as the light is fading from the sky. Lights are starting to go on in buildings and along the street... My favorite part of this image is the little arc.. ah how do I describe it.. where the thin part swoops down and meets the other side of the building there's that hint of an arc, with a railing pattern. Ah nevermind, anyway - This image rocks my world.

I want a cintiq so bad...Like, its so palpable I could scrape the drool off of my desk after looking at all the pretty pictures.
Anyways, I love this painting. Soon in the future here, we're going to start seeing more and more of these structures. I hope I can live long enough to see all of them go up.

The tall thin buildings on the right look like processors on a motherboard (but WAYYYYYYYY cooler of course)- you're that detailed in your work!!!
The megastrcuture of course, like, OMG. ANGLE!!!! Love it. Kinda remind me of Salvador Dali, and that film, Contact, but still, OMG.
Pyramids! OHYEAH
Helicopters in a sky. I LOVE THAT SKY. I LOVE IT. I love purple, its like my fav colour.
If I ever buy your work, which I PROMISE I will, it would have to be this one.

That's an incredible piece of artwork! And all of it done in Photoshop?! Wow, that must of took much, much effort in making this. I love how it is so detailed and the shading could make this seem as if it was a real place.

It's a very good piece, although I think you could have spent a bit more time on the choppers/sky and a bit less on the foreground part of the city. The focal point is a bit off now. I might see this wrong of course, just my thoughts
