Holy hell this is old school.Lisa Hayes/Misa Hayase from Robotech/Macross, respectively. This has been floating around in my head for almost 15 freaking years, and it's a wonder this took me so long.
And initially I didn't even like her! I mean Minmei was always annoying too but something about Lisa was offputting for a while, but I think as the series went on they started drawing her better or something and the idea of her and Rick hooking up went from 'out of nowhere' to 'ridiculously adorable.'
And then naturally my mind went here, and then it sat there for a decade and a half. Goddamn.
Anyway she's got weird cinnamon buns in her hair but you get used to them.

If Admiral Hayes had her way, some variation on this scene would happen. Even before she and Rick hooked up, she looked at Max and Myria out with their baby and daydreamed it was her and Rick.

I think part of that was character development. Once you start to understand who Misa is, and why she acts the way she does, she stops seeming like a total bitch. Minmay, unfortunately, never changes until the show is pretty much over, and remains a blithering idiot
