I often dream of flyingfar above the city streets.
I'd beat my wings and leave
for Cairo, or New York,
I can go to many places
but there's noone there to meet
and the sky is a lonely place
just me and the silent clouds

Sometimes it does depend on the subject. Some stay still and let you take some time to prepare the shot, others are quite restless and move constantly. This one was a bot of both, but it stayed in view so I took quite a few shots, some worked, some not.
It all boils down to practice and luck.

.. when i read the title of your image..these covenant lyrics came into my mind ... i like the lyrics more than the song itself ... and another helicopter song (The feeling)..
The picture is really sharp ... for my taste a bit too sharp ... but that's just me

To be honest, looking at it now, I too feel it might be a little more sharp than it should. Other than that, although the 70-300mm of the lens is handy (this shot was taken at 300mm), at the extreme length of that 300mm the image quality degrades significantly.

Then you would have loved that place. It was next to a small river, feet into shallow bunk, cold water and quite a lot dragonflies. Smaller and larger.
