Description
That lovely moment after Harry snooped in Snape's pensieve.I can just picture Harry sitting little Al down and telling him of the great times he had with Snape.
"And there was this one time that Snape shook me violently then threw things at my face and screamed- I had just seen one of the most shattering moments of my life, seeing my parents in a horrible way. Snape was really sympathetic and acted like a real adult about it."
Snape is such a lovely person- I don't know why Lily went for James when there was Snape around. Sure, he was a
======Edited to add=====
lol! Since lot's of people have something to say when their Snape gets negative attention, here is my answer to you.
He's not a nice man.
He just isn't.
He did some brave things- but I will never think of him as a 'nice' person. He made his choices, and his choices were to be incredibly cruel to CHILDREN (like Harry, Ron, Hermione and Neville.)
I admire what all he did in the series, of course, because they were wild feats of bravery, and I just LOVED that whole 'look at me' thing. It was so sad and iconic!
Seeing his love for Lily was very moving.
HE'S STILL A JERK, though. He called Lily the Wizarding Equivalent of the n-word in front of everyone. He was too weak to reject the Deatheaters when he was younger- and that's when he had his chance with Lily. He squandered it until it was too late.
Why WOULD Lily choose him at the time? I certainly wouldn't.
James, for all his faults, grew OUT of his cruelty according to everyone. Yeah, he and Snape still occasionally did things to eachother, but to me there's a distinction in that James was a cocky teenage boy when he did his cruel things and obviously changed or Lily would not have been involved with him.
Snape, upon growing up, continued to be a cruel immature person (in fact he looks like he got worse)- and yet people look over that and jut think of him as a hero. Heroes can be jerks, guys.
Snape is no saint. He is an interesting hero BECAUSE he's not a nice person.
Some people will say: 'but-but Snape was awesome! How could you say such ironic things about him?!?!?!?!?!'
Lol. Get out the books and read some Snape scenes in book 1- remember how cruel he was to Harry (an 11 yr old orphan). Remember how cruel he was to Neville (and he KNEW what sort of life Nev was leading.) Remember how he mocked Hermione's appearance in book 4? ('I see no difference.'
He is a petty man, who I don't think was ever mature enough or nice enough for Lily to want to have a relationship with.
Snape was a Hero. Snape was a total jerk. TWO SIDES OF THE SAME COIN.

Really great image. Gotta say, I love the shaft of light. It adds a really nice effect.
Harry's face looks really, really nice.
And, as usual, I love your insightful comments. Because everybody knows that if you were a jerk at 15, you totally deserve every bad thing that happens to you after it.

exactly! If you're a jerk as a kid, you have no chance of outgrowing it later! Heck, he was so damn selfish- you know, turning into an animagus for one, letting the other live with him, fighting for the Order of the Phoenix, sacrificing himself for his wife and child? Jerkface!

Total jerkface. I mean, forget the fact that he didn't care that Remus was a werewolf when everybody else did, and forget the fact that Lilly could obviously recognise the fact that he'd out grown it. I mean, come on, the kid was fifteen, popular and cute - nothing can ever redeem him of such a sin.
After all, nobody here ever did anything stupid or mean when they were growing up.

Like the expressions. Not so fond of the Anti-Snape, pro-James commentary. To me, they were both jerks that didn't deserve Lily. :/

What anti-Snape, pro-James commentary?
James picked on Snape and was cocky at age 15- therefore he is a jerk who didn't deserve Lily.

Your last paragraph rather seemed Anti-Snape, Pro-James. The way you phrased it, anyway.
I don't really care. Everyone's entitled to their opinion. :/ I still love the expressions in this piece.

Thanks.
Yeah, it is anti-Snape pro-James. I was being ironic in my reply. I think James grew out of his adolescent behavior (lots of guys were prigs from ages 11-15) where as Snape didn't. I like Snape as a character- I find him very interesting, but I like James too.

Sorry hun, but I agree with Dancingcarrot21. Snape did sacrifice and devoted his life to Harry, like it or not, in his own way. He didn`t have to protect him, yet he did and died for it....
You are of course entitled to your own opinion.
This is of course mine.... it`s just sad you being so ironic about Snape.... even when you say you like him.... it seems not. Its your right to mock him and make fun of him... its jus sad...

Ok snape did sacrafice his life for harry but did you forget he did make harry a orphan in the first place. He told voldie the prophecy to get james and harry killed but to let lily live. Just because james was mean to him in school and its his fault that lily didnt like him he called her a mudblood. So he wished death on her husband and son because hes jealous and mad.He might be a hero but hes also a horrible person.I was glad he died and i wish lily kicked his ass in heaven.

How is it 'sad'? lol
I think he's a very interesting character- but I openly mock how people paint him as a saint- he was a very immature bastard, who happened to do some good things. He was a brave man- but a total a-hole. He mistreated children all the time, was severely immature, and a cruel person-
That's what makes him so interesting- he's done so many great things, but is never a nice person. He never give s flip about Harry, really. I mean we saw that in some of the scenes with him and Dumbledore- he just cared about Lily, and took care of Harry out of duty. He was horribly cruel to Harry, Ron, Hermione, and, of all people, NEVILLE. This guy is a very interesting jerkface.
Lol. It's 'sad' I'm ironic. XD You're being ironic when you say that, right?

lol??? Why, am I funny or something???? I am sad because You don`t undestant Snape, being lonely, suffering child abuse, hunger, not being taken cared of... bullied and having to live with guilt is something I wouldnt want anyone to suffer. I undestand the character from a personal point of view.
I really think you are entitled to your opinion. I am pretty much used to this hate-Snape rant... specially from young teens and young people. I hate to say it, but you aren`t the only one who dislikes him... but many many more like him even more than even Harry...
And you forget he saved like people like Draco, Katie Bell, Dumbledore and protected Hogwarts. And Harry of course, like quite a lot of times, I am sure you read the books.
He did all of this for Lily???? Maybe. But she was dead already.... He did it for love .... for love....
And writing that he was bastard and an asshole, jerkface, ugly, inmature etc. etc. just makes me wonder why draw him in the first place... Don`t. Of course you are free do whatever you want, but with some respect for those of us who RESPECT the character. I am honestly tired of seeing people mock Snape, saying stupid things like he was a virgin etc. It just show how inmature people are...
Me ironic??? No. I would write I am angry, but I am not, just feel you don`t undestand the character... at all.
And Being that said I have nothing more to say to you. Unless of course you want to start an open discussion, which I won`t mind... we are already discussing.
Right???

I understand that from a personal point of view too. I was abused physically and mentally quite a bit in my youth by family, and was mistreated terribly at times when I was young. And you know what, I'm really NICE to kids.
He's a character in a book- but yeah, I do have a respect for him. That's why I draw him. I find him interesting enough to want to draw and explore.
Like I said, he's a hero- he's also a jerk.
He is a tragic figure, so that calls a lot of people to want to only see the good- and get REALLY defensive when I make fun of him.
I make fun of lots of characters- including my faves (like Ron. Geeze there is so MUCH to mock there!)
I mean, I'd think, since Snape is a fave character of yours, that you would appreciate the satire and mocking out there.
It's all in good fun. Stop freaking out about it. He's in my top 15 character list- but I'm not going to show deference to people without a sense of humor about him. Lol! Stop taking it so seriously. I mean, you can continue to take it seriously (because as we know, characters in HP are SERIOUS BUSINESS.)
I admire your passion.
I think I understand the character. He's a hero. And a jerk. There was a 'littleness' inside him he couldn't escape. Instead of trying to be BETTER than the people who were cruel to him, he decided to be BITTER and act out less severe forms of the same abuse he suffered. He was never able to grow past his past, and that's what is so tragic about him, to me.
Not him losing Lily- I mean, that was tragic, but I think the MOST tragic thing is that he had so much potential to be a nicer person, to move on, to live his life- and he didn't. That's what is so moving about his character, to me. He is a very flawed one- who gets both sympathy and censure from me.
I make fun of Snape and Hermione like all the time. I just find they have TONS of comedic value. That doesn't mean I suddenly have hatred for them. I kid because I like to kid about them. They are really funny, alot of the time, to me. I'm not and never will hold back a joke over something like a character from a book series, just because other people want me to show only reverence towards them, and then will call ME adjectives over it.
I'm a real person. He's a fake person. And you are insulting me over making fun of him. 0_0 Dude...

While I'm not fond of James in school and rather found his behavior disgusting, I like how he acted as a father to Harry. He did grow up, and it was nice seeing that.
Snape took a bit longer. I understand why he didn't necessarily get over his grudge against James and why he was so bitter, though I still found it immature. But he did protect victims of Voldemort when he could and the students at Hogwarts who had nothing to do with Lily or Harry (as stated in Deathly Hallows).
So in a sense, they both grew up in different ways. Both definitely deserved to get slapped during their school years in my opinion, but deserved credit for what they did later in life.

Exactly! Even though I think Snape bullied in a far worse way than James (helpless children he was in charge of, vs a peer who knew spells that could cut your face open.) But yeah, I think James doesn't get any credit, but because people loooove Snape they look past his failings and only want to latch on to what good he had done. Neither deserves a free pass- but in the end I like James more as a person (not as a character) because I see his cruelty as being something he grew out of, where as Snape almost grew INTO his cruelty (towards helpless children like Neville.)
