Description I did not plan for Misty's sisters to even be mentioned. But when I noticed the dialogue wasn't going as I planned I came up with this. Next page we learn what happened and reach the Battle Tower.

does one read this left to right or right to left?

Left to right. I know I messed up with speech bubbles, so it's pretty damn confusing. Once next page gets done it'll make sense. XD

Ah, always happy to see another page! Especially with more dialogue; it feels like stuff is really starting to happen now, particularly at the end there with Misty's sister arriving off-panel...I wonder what they want? xD

And I find that the more I look at your art style, the more I like it; the colours and the basic look are those of the anime, clearly, but the more stylised proportions kinda remind me of Special's art style. So in essence, it has the best of both worlds; very nice~ ^^

Yeah, stuff gets to be explained on the next page.

Thanks. I try to use the color palette from the show. But unlike what I personally prefer, the colors are to soft so I kind of force the shadowing to be darker than in the show. But that's just cause I'm going blind. XD

I've tried to take some inspiration from special. MATO's art is adorable, but Satoshi's is more my preference since it's more serious and stylized. I'm still looking for that balance.

And thanks.

Well, of course; that's typically how a comic works. xP

No problem at all. Yes, I did notice that, too; the colours are very show-accurate, which helps lend a feeling of legitimacy to the art, and by extension, the story. And, lol, no, I don't blame you for fixing the shadowing; it works better than what we see in-show, and I'm not just saying that because my eyesight sucks too. xD

It shows, and quite nicely at that. Really? Hm, I haven't yet read up to the part where Satoshi Yamamoto took over on pencils, but I think I've seen what you're talking about from the covers and such. But, yes, it is indeed important to strike a fine balance between stylisation and realism.

And you're welcome. Always. ^^

That is my goal, to make it feel as much as the show as possible. I still have a long way to go though. Lol.

I have up to volume 16 or 19 in Japananese..though I can't understand, the artwork is just amazing.

Well, I'd say you've made it pretty far as is, so no worries. ^^

I'd envy you if I were any more capable of reading it than you are. XD As it stands, I only have the Viz versions of issues 1-3, and I read that the only ones out in English at the moment go up to 11. Still, that's not stopping me from reading. Now, the difficulty I have in finding the volumes in stores...that's another story. ><

Thanks. XD

That's the reason I havent decided to hunt for the new Viz volumes yet, I've had a hard time finding the other Pokemon Manga Viz has translated. And I can't stand the weeboos at Borders. >.<

No problem~ ^^

I know, right? Whenever I look for them at big, popular bookstores, I never find them! And yet for some reason, I never have the same problem at smaller, specialty-type comic stores...the trouble there is that they tend to overcharge for their manga. >< And, lol, I know what you mean about the Borders folks...they're at Barnes & Noble, too, and they just love sitting around like it's a library or something.

himanuts In reply to HunterGhor [2011-02-18 18:02:57 +0000 UTC]

We don't have many comic book stores here. And Toys R Us gets Pokemon Manga once in a while..but yeah. Those small stores are to pricey. And lol, just today I found out Borders is closing 2 of it's 3 stores here. Yay! XD

HunterGhor In reply to himanuts [2011-02-18 20:18:54 +0000 UTC]

Toys R Us? Huh...that's unusual. But, yeah, it might be a good thing that there aren't many comic book stores in your neck of the woods, given what I said earlier about price-gouging. And wow, really? Damn...it seems like neither of us can get a break with this stuff. XD

himanuts In reply to HunterGhor [2011-02-21 15:14:08 +0000 UTC]

Yeah. Lol. For a while now I've been planning on importing the Manga volumes from Chaung Yi(Sp?). Not only for Special, but most of the Pokemon Manga they sell. But darnit, it slips my mind when I have the chance and money for the purchase. XD

HunterGhor In reply to himanuts [2011-02-21 18:55:47 +0000 UTC]

Oh, yeah, that's right! They have pretty much all the Pokemon mangas, don't they? I always thought their translations were a tad iffy, but then again, having their volumes would certainly make an interesting oddity to add to one's collection...I guess now I have to remember and save, too. XD

Yeah. Even rare ones like "Ash and Pikachu" and moves 7 & 8 I believe.

Lol, yup. Please don't slip my mind. >.<

Oh, cool! I gotta check those out.

You know what I really wanna read again? The one that followed the anime up to the Orange Islands arc...I think it was "The Electric Tale of Pikachu" or something. Viz published the whole thing, but it's long out of print. I've only been able to find it as an old, curly-paged book lying around in the reading room at New York Anime Festival.

Lol...let's hope neither of us forgets~ xP

himanuts In reply to HunterGhor [2011-02-24 18:41:15 +0000 UTC]

I'm dying to read that as well. I hear it elaborates on this like how Ash gets his money and kids needing to finish some level of education. XD Plus the more realistic looking Pokemon thing is really intriguing.

HunterGhor In reply to himanuts [2011-02-24 18:44:44 +0000 UTC]

Me too! Man, I wish I still had those two single-issues I bought years ago; not knowing their significance, I ended up doodling all over the interiors and eventually throwing them out. XD But, yeah, I heard the same thing; apparently, Ash's journeying is described as being on "Trainer's leave" or something like that, and is essential to his education in some way or another. The realism thing is cool too, as is the fact that Ash is slightly less dense, and the story actually works toward some kind of conclusion.

himanuts In reply to HunterGhor [2011-02-24 18:48:53 +0000 UTC]

It makes one wonder how it would had been if they allowed for this story to continue. The material that surfaced after it's conclusion would had made it something potentially respectable for the general canon.

HunterGhor In reply to himanuts [2011-02-24 18:59:15 +0000 UTC]

I swear, you took the thoughts right out of my head! To have seen ETOP continue past the Orange Islands arc, with smart!Ash, married Jessie and James, and all the various departures it had from the main show would have been quite interesting. Especially since I get the feeling that the manga's writer would have been less hostile toward including the games' player characters than the show's writers were.

himanuts In reply to HunterGhor [2011-02-25 17:27:35 +0000 UTC]

Who knows, had he introduced all those characters, his manga could had been as big, if not bigger, than special amongst fans.

HunterGhor In reply to himanuts [2011-02-25 19:28:18 +0000 UTC]

I agree! It already had a pretty good balance between anime, game, and original elements; if it hadn't suddenly cut short after Ash beat Drake, and went onto include all the other characters, it would pretty much validate years worth of ideas that have only been possible in fanfic. I have the utmost confidence that it would have been the top competitor to Special. Oi, such wasted potential...

Crap, I meant to say "sisters". Not that I imagine that was noticed. xD

Oh, and I also wanted to point out a slight typo in the first panel; it should be "become", not "becomed".
