Big Middle Fingers: My lack of ability, bills, and the odd way that I am my most creative and most compelled when I have the most work to do. When Im bored, I get nothing. Flood me with more work than I can handle, and then Im driven to PS.

i love the textures and the smoothness of much of the face. the eyes and the single tear. also the subtle work to the background (the mechanical stuff and the shoulder).
suggestions:
i think the rough textures should surround/emmanate from the scratches and the the tubes, instead of just being on the right (your left) side of the face.
the shadow from the top bead on the bridge of the nose looks weird for some reason. i'm not sure why.
i may be an idiot...i'm not sure of the importance of the nose ring. it looks out of place in the composition (though it is very well done).

Oooo and now after a second read of the description i see you were asking for opinions and advice...well..
Quite honestly...i think its simply amazing as is...but if you wanted to add to it...maybe try putting a light texture over the face...avoid cracks as they seem to be the trendy thing right now and would definately take away from the piercings you got going on...
Something maybe a little dirty would be awesome... has some bad ass textures available to artists and i definately recommend going thru his gallery....but i honestly think this piece as is..is definately a work of art alone...so maybe just leave it...
just play with it hon...the key to being a dark artist is not less is more...at least in my opinion..the more textures the better....especially on portrait type images...but now im starting to sound like some little miss no it all and the reality is that im just an artist like everyone else...but ive got a hooplah and fetish for heavy textures..anyone that knows me and knows my art will tell you that im the fucking texture queen!~L~
Anyhow im shutting up now this is madness...ive been in the sun too much on holidays...catcha later...

Critique on the side with some pork and toast.
You have some absolutely amazing work here. The pipes and entry in the temple are is flawless. Nice shadow work to give it some depth btw. Texturing on the side of the face is suttle and nice. You didn't go overboard like most of us dark artists do. The eyes are mind blowing. I love eyes and they usually tell the story alot of the time. The scars are also very well executed. Disturbingly real. I would give my first, second, and third born to know how that was done. Bravo!
Only thing that sets me sideways is the jewelry on the nose. Looks out of place. Can't put my finger on it, but just seems fakish. Honestly that is the only thing i find bothersome about this awesome manip. I can't wait to see what your finished piece looks like.

Nice work nate. Looks good. Couple crits for you. The metal pieces on the nose, look very good but don't look like they're really attached to you. Look a little too clean, also. I would think if it were attached to your nose, there'd be an indentation or something different with the skin. The other thing I noticed. Behind the ear, you have the white tube thing, it seems to stand out big time when I look at this image. Thats just me though. I really like the love/lust pipes though and the eyes. Good work.

you go nate!!!!! welcome to the dark side **cackles madly** i love this - what a brillant image - so much thought went into it - the details are fantastic. the only thing that slightly throws me off is the pink of the ear againt the jaundice coloring of the face - though i'm afraid that to make it the same yellow it would flatten it out so im not sure what to tell you there. perhaps a darker yellow - i'm not sure though.
