Description

This is a Paint Tool SAI tutorial just to let you know. XD;; A lot of people have been asking me to make a tutorial for coloring and well.. I guess you could say this is a practice tutorial that I wanted to try? @__@;; orz Maybe one of these days, I'll make a proper one for skin, clothes, etc. D; idk ~

1.) We start off with a clean lineart and set it to "Multiply". ouo;
I call this layer 'lineart' ~

I draw my eyes first and then color them in with black. xD I always use the zoom tool (pg up button) on the keyboard if I want it to keep it nice, neat and crisp looking. @u@; orz I use the Ink Pen tool and use sizes from 0.7 - 2.

2.) Then, we create a new layer under the "lineart" layer and we call this "fill". Choose any dark color or color that you know you aren't going to be using for coloring. After choosing your color, go ahead and choose the "Bucket" tool and 'fill' it in. c: In this case, I used a dark green.

3.) Next, we choose the base color of the eye. For this drawing, I'm using red. Create a new layer above your 'lineart' layer and set it under the 'Screen' blend mode. Then, choose the "Airbrush" tool (pt 20) we go ahead and color the half bottom of the eye. >w<' Erase any parts that are left when coloring so that the red only shows up on the eye ~

4.) I then choose a lighter version of red and made a hook shape on both of the eyes. ovo' Like a backwards "J" or something. O.o' Do your best on making them as similar as possible on both sides. It takes me a few tries to make it look perfect so don't give up! I use the 'ink pen' (0.7) for this.

5.) Make a new layer and set it up for the 'screen' blend mode. LOL I have no idea why I have a seperate layer for this but for some reason, I like using a lot of layers. OTL;;; Take your ink pen (0.7) and make mini circles in the middle of the eyes. 8D; Also use a lighter version of red for this. And if it's too tiny for you, you can always zoom in and draw it that way. ^w^;

6.) Afterwards, make a new layer for the whites of the eyes ~ (I suggest you use the smallest ink pen brush xD; ) Make 2 circles of white near the top left somewhere. c; One that's big and the other one very small. owo; One of my trademarks is the little heart I like doing. D; Soo.. make a heart at the end of the little backwards "J". > v<' You can also make a star if you want. 8D

7.) Create a new layer but this time, make sure it's under the layer you made for the whites of the eyes~ Set this to the "addition" blend mode. Take a small pt airbrush tool and choose the color white. This is what makes your eyes shinnnniierrrrdessuuu >D Zoom in if needed and just color over them. Make sure you don't apply too much.

8.) Lastlyyyy (HOMG Finally orz), make one last layer above the one you did for the whites of the eyes. xD Take your ink pen (0.7) and create little diagonal lines on the top. Only for the top half of the eyes. Delete your fill layer and voila! XD; Your done!

Once your done coloring the whole picture, save it as a .png file. ouo;
