Backstory for Specific Details of Appearance Above:
A light blue tattoo under her right eye is a gift she received during her time in Atlantis in Third Beginning. Queen Kida awakened Hinata's water magic and by using an Atlantean crystal, infused power into a tattoo that would help Hinata channel her magic. The tattoo is barely visible when Hinata is not using her power; however, it will glow a bright blue hue when she is using water magic or is feeling an extreme emotion such as anger or love.

In Third Beginning, Hinata is forced to cut off her long hair and is left with a short bob; however, after receiving the tattoo from the Atlantean crystal, its magical properties seeped into her DNA. Her wounds heal at an increased rate and her body is incredibly healthy. As a side effect, her hair grows at an unusually fast rate. She keeps it in a thick braid to keep it out of her way, now having to get it cut often; which for her means just slicing her laser blade across it.

Past: Hinata was born in Radiant Garden. Her father worked at the castle with the other apprentices and was rarely home; leaving Hinata in the care of her Mother and Grandmother. As she grew up, her Mother and Grandmother often tried to teach her how to grow into a young lady that would someday marry into a rich family as both of them had done in their lifetimes; however, Hinata never cared for the lessons. She often snuck away during their teachings to go off and explore the palace gardens or the castle library. One day during her explorations, when she was about eight years old, she found her father there in the library, reading one of the many history books. She went up to him and asked what he was doing and he shared that he was reading up on the war history of Radiant Garden for a particular experiment. He showed her the book and Hinata immediately noticed the diagrams of the various weapons used in battle.

Noticing they peaked her interest, Hinata's father went into great detail, telling her about the weapons and how they were made. His stories only made her more intrigued and before returning to his work, her father gave her the book he had been reading from. Hinata spent the rest of the day sitting in the library reading and learning from the book. Days passed and Hinata continually went back to the castle library, reading more and more about the different weapons, until eventually it became her obsession; much to her Mother and Grandmother's displeasure.

One day she was out in the palace gardens with a couple of sticks, pretending they were a pair of dao blades she had read about. As she played she ran into a red-haired boy, Lea. They had seen each other in passing at school, but Hinata didn't talk much with others. Lea teased her for pretending she was a warrior when she was a girl and Hinata told him that it didn't matter what she was, she could still kick his butt. He took it as a challenge and looked around for his own weapon, finding a pair of toy frisbees lying around the courtyard. He picked them up and they play-fought. Neither of them were very good, but they laughed and became quick friends. Before Lea left to head home he told Hinata that he promised to introduce her to his best friend, Isa. He knew they would all get along great. Within the next few months, the three of them became inseparable.

Not too much later, Hinata's Mother found out that she was pregnant and nine months later Hinata had a younger sister. Her Mother and Father had quarreled much over the girl's name. Her Mother wanted to name her Aiko, but her Father, who ultimately won, insisted they name her Kairi; despite the decision of the final name, their mother still called her Aiko as a nickname. Hinata and Kairi got along wonderfully; Hinata often watched over her, even bringing her along to spend time with Lea and Isa.

As the years went by, Hinata continued to study warfare history and weapon techniques; eventually sharing her findings with Lea and Isa and teaching them the basics of sparring as best as she could manage. Her Mother eventually accepted Hinata's love of weapons, yet her Grandmother could never accept it and would often lecture Hinata about her 'poor' life choices; causing them to have a strained relationship.

When Hinata was in her teenage years a new apprentice suddenly showed up at the castle, his name was Xehanort. Despite his stoic and mysterious background, he quickly gained the trust and friendship of a majority of the other apprentices, including Hinata's father. Her father learned that Xehanort was skilled in fighting and suggested that he become a sparring instructor for three young teens. Xehanort, still trying to configure his past after losing his memories, agreed and became the Sparring Master of Hinata, Lea, and Isa.

He quickly gained the three teens trust and they thought of him as a mentor as well as a Master. Yet, sometime later they noticed him beginning to change. He went on about some sort of Organization he wished for them to join when they were ready and his teachings went from leisurely to strict seemingly overnight.

Eventually Lea and Isa concluded that something at the castle was changing their Master and they were going to find out what it was. After much pleading and debating, they convinced Hinata to come along with them and she helped them sneak into the lower labs of the castle where no civilians were allowed to enter. Down there they found something unexpected and borderline terrifying, leading them to believe that Xehanort, the head apprentice of the castle, was indeed up to something horrible.

Only moments after that discovery, Xehanort revealed that he had indeed regained his true memories and was setting out to create his Organization. He went after the teens and Hinata was able to escape. She raced back to her home to protect her family, but was met there by Xehanort himself. She grabbed her blades and fought against him, but he overpowered her with ease. Just as he was about to give the final blow, Kairi ran in front of Hinata and protected her.

Xehanort scoffed at the notion and went for the final blow regardless; but was stopped by a sudden shield of light that emanated from Kairi's pearl necklace. When the light dissipated, Hinata and Kairi were gone. Kairi went straight to Destiny Islands but upon arrival she had lost all of her memories and Hinata was not with her. It wasn't until eight years later that Hinata would arrive at Destiny Islands the same way as Kairi and with no knowledge that any time had passed at all.
