Description Used: acrylic paint on panel

What I Did:

My assignment was to research the clinical form of depression and illustrate it, so I painted a stone-like face in a dark dark room... I'm sure everyone would know what depression was... so I don't feel the need to explain the piece... as they say, a picture is worth a thousand words.

By the way, again with this piece -- my stupid camera made a glare on the black part -- it's supposed to be straight black with some white-ish marks to give the wall a bit of depth...

I love your approach and execution. The way you segmented the face into seperate parted stones is great. VERY appropriate. Lovely painting!

it looks almost like it was made of metal... like it was robotic. a sad robot... hmm.

i like the contrast between the dark background and pale figure, and the expression really gets the emotion across well. that big white cheek seems a bit too empty tho. maybe have a tear sliding down his cheek? other than that, nice painting.

Yeah, I never thought to put a tear running down his cheek... that's actually a good idea -- wouldn't be too hard of an addition either. Thanks for the hint!
