Next Friday evening, Martha and David were walking home from the party.

“I really enjoyed the evening.” Martha said. “And you, David?”

“Me too. I was surprised that Babette tried to hit on Amelia. I thought she was going steady with someone...?” David replied.

“I don’t think Babette has a steady boyfriend at all. She’s the kind of girl that is always looking for adventure. And she doesn’t limit herself to men only. Besides, Babette was quite drunk this evening.” Martha explained.

“I see… Amelia was quite surprised.” David continued.

“Amelia is a very shy person. As far as I know, she doesn’t have a boyfriend yet. No wonder she was surprised when Babette kissed her.”

“Yeah, it was probably better that the two of us walked them home to the hotel.” David said. “Now we can enjoy our walk home together.” He gave Martha a warm smile.

Martha smiled back. “How about you? Don’t you have a girlfriend?”

“I used to have one in high school. But after we graduated, she moved to the USA for studies. Eventually, we decided that a long-distance relationship doesn’t work, so we broke up.” David sounded disappointed.

“Look at it this way: you are free to look for a new girlfriend. I’m sure a guy like you will find someone easily.” Martha tried to cheer David up.

David smiled back. “How about you? Babette said that you have a boyfriend?”

“He’snotmyboyfriend!” Martha hissed angrily. “How often do I have to say?”

“Calm down, Martha! You are frightening like that!” David shied away from Martha. “Who is he? Tell me the truth, please.”

Martha calmed down. “The truth? Alright, I’ll tell you everything. But you must promise me that you won’t do anything stupid.”

David took Martha’s hand. “I’ll promise.”

“His name is Sami and he’s a genie too. Your uncle owns his lamp. It’s still in the lobby, next to the stand where my lamp used to be.” Martha explained.

“Another genie? I can’t believe it.” David’s mouth popped open. “And don’t worry, I won’t summon him, if that’s what you meant by 'something stupid'.”

Martha nodded. “You better not. He doesn’t like humans. Still, he’s forced to offer you one wish. Don’t use this wish, or he will twist it. Please promise me this.”

“Don’t worry. You know how reluctant I was when you offered me three wishes. I’ll surely not use a wish from a genie I don’t know and trust.”

“Good!” Martha moved closer to David as they continued their walk. “How about your wishes? Would you like to make one? Is there nothing I could do for you?”

“In fact, there is something. But I don’t want to waste a wish on that. Would you like to go out again with me?” David asked.

“That wish I will grant you for free. I’d love to go out with you again.” Martha moved closer and wrapped her arm around David. And so, they continued their way home.
