Description
This is the map of the Novicene Period at 40 million years in the future, a political map of the world before I add the environments and biomes, with just continental junction mountain ranges and dried bodies of water colored. Notable formations are the junction of Africa against Europe, creating a mountain range and salt flats in the gaps where Mediterranean water remained and dried. There is a massive megalake where the Black Sea, Caucasus Mountains, and Caspian Seas once were in western Asia which drains into the Neocyprean Sea along the west coast of past-Turkey. The Neocyprean Sea is the last surviving remnant of the Mediterranean, along with the Adriatic Sea, and connects directly to the Red Sea in the absence of the Sinai Peninsula. East Africa has drifted northeast away from the mainland and into the Arabian Peninsula, which has collided with Asia, closing the Persian Gulf. The Philippines and many of the East Indies have collided with Mesogaea, or New Afroeurasia, except for New Guinea, which combined with Australia along with New Zealand. In the Americas, not much has changed, besides Antarctica now being connected to South America through its peninsula. The Orinoco Basin is mostly flooded, North and South America are disconnected via Central America; Canadian islands to the west and south of Baffin have enclosed the Hudson Bay into Limna Baffinia, the second megalake of the Novicene. Lake Ontario has reduced to a mere river, and on the flooded Florida Peninsula, a new type of environment exists; a coral labyrinth; and is comparable to the Great Barrier Reef off the coast of Australia, but much shallower, at -30 feet below sea level at most.
2/15/20 Made a minor change to it, separating NZ from Australia.
In case you were wondering, this map is for a project I'm working on with ScreenSamurai . It is viewable in his gallery, or in the upcoming website for it.......
