It has been really bad from him; Tenma is his father, after all. And not wanted from robots, not wanted from humans, his last hope was his son. But he put a real violence on Atom, trying to erase his memory.
He never learned how to TALK with his son, human or robot.
And the consequences are always a disaster.

Maybe he did not think about consequences after all: for a hopeless soul, there's no future to think about.
So, he grabbed his son, his last precious thing on Heart, and tried to keep it close; he feared he would repudiate him as a father again, so he did not even try to talk with him. He put his creation on his operating table, and played as he wanted with some files and some programs; it was, according to him, the only way to convince his son to love his father again.
Tenma always never understands anything about his son, human or robot...

As I told in another comment, this scene is very hard to see: Tenma's last attempt to keep his son close to him results in one of the worst violences he made on his son.
He erased his memory, he forced him to change his personality and to not get out the house.
I also made another drawing about the end of this story: Atom runs in Ochanomizu open arms again, after he regained his lost personality and memory... but we also see Tenma's face: a portrait of extreme flustration and pain.
I can't hate him, even if he crossed the line ten times, in order to force his son to follow his crazy ideas. I know why he did what he did.

Oh... The King of Robot's rising? This is creepy! ._.
I once imagined: why should Atom accept to fulfill his father's crazy wish? And the answer was: he killed a human.
That was a bad bad twist of the story, and Atom could be a very sad King of the Robots, making Tenma not very happy about it. A sad king? I bet this was not in his plans...

Tenma's last attempts to keep Atom close to him. He hasn't got anything or anybody else in the world.
But he did too much: Atom is locked up in his house, a prisoner, always on books or in fake scenarios made of holograms. And his father, once is lovely and sweet, once is angry and mad, in the space of few seconds.
And above all, Atom always so submissive... it was creepy.
Tenma's twisted love... so bad, so sad.
That was a masterpiece.

Yups, especially at the near end of that episode. You know, when Atom got his memories again after battling Lamp and Tenma constantly and forcefully said that he was Tobio? With 'Boy's Heart' music soundtrack as its scene's background, that moment nearly made me cry

Ah, spoiler!
I just finished watching episode #26, the rising of the Blue Knight.
I am not that familiar with the soundtrack, but I bet I will shed some tears.
I was up to cry like a baby in the episode of Micro Bear. Unexpected, there were lots of scenes about Tenma and Shadow, Kenichi and Atom, and the real deep purpose of the scientist robot: knowledge about friendship and human heart.
The bears' first purpose was not attacking Atom and leaving him alone: it was to give people an easy friend, that kind of utopic companion who everytime says things you want to hear.
It touched a deep chord, a very painful one.
Too many times my friends left me under a mountain of Micro Bears, thinking I was a monster.
I really felt something... and they call it just a cartoon! -_-
I don't like the second opening, but the second ending song, well, it's Tetsuwan Atom's song. How in the world I can't love it?

Opss... Hehehe..... well, I think you must be familiar with the soundtrack because Boy's Heart is the ending song of AstroBoy. I bet you know that song
Where did you watch the original episodes? Me from 'tudoutv' (if I'm not mistaken ) There's no subtitle but it's enough for me to see it only in Japanese language. I haven't watched Micro Bear in Japanese version, but after hearing that it nearly got you cry, I think I'll see it soon
Yes, I, too, don't like the second opening. I like its song but just not fan of how it became the opening song.

I took a torrent file from μtorrent. That was a great hint by Dragonrider (I hope it is the name, I am a disaster with names... but he's here). It took a couple of hours, but now I can see all the series, all with English subtitles. From episode #25 the translator changed, and some lines are a bit funny, because he seems to not know English words properly. But it's good enough; it's there I found the name Hussar for the Blue Knight, and another new name for Ochanomizu. And Metro City changed in Metal City (!!!) and in Mittere City (or something like that). But all the original meaning is in safe.
It's a bit odd hearing Atom saying he needs a 'power sauce'... maybe it was 'source'... ^_^'
I know the ending song, and I have the translation until episode #25. That's great, yes. I did not know the title.
Oops! I spoilt the Micro Bear story to you... but, trust me, you'll appreciate it. It's not just a stupid monster tale; you will know why the Big Bear flies away without taking another chance.
I thought that Atom could let Ken win the match, without being so strict with rules. But after seeing the real dialogues, I knew what was the problem with the football match: it was not just a rule-thing.
You'll see. It's not the cliché we saw in translation.
I am not that expert with Japanese, even if I am learning very much watching the 1980's series and this one; sometimes I find a TV show on Neko TV where a Japanese teacher does lessons about Japan: phrases, alphabets, useful things to know, short videos... and a strange Italian assistant, that talks with nose, so, everytime he says something in Japanese, he seems to be joking or mocking.
"Itterasshai!" And I laugh to tears!

Yep, I can't see anything, just a blurred screen and some notes in Japanese... well, I think it's Japanese. The page runs very slowly, then stops on the sadly empty screen.
Maybe is some stuff I could only watch outta Italy.
They made this trick with Doctor Who movies: you can't watch anything on official Doctor Who website if you aren't in United Kingdom. -_-
Maybe there's another way...

I don't know much anything about torren. Well, I guess I also have found the link containing that torrent you're talking about but I didn't download it since I don't know how it'll work with my PC I had download episode 1 to 14 with Indonesian subtitle but there are no more episode in japanese version to download so I got to search it by myself. It's really hard but eventually, I found a site called tudou tv, which has some episodes of AstroBoy in japanese version, sadly, with no subtitle I wish I could see Micro Bear episode in the original version, it sounds very interesting when you spoke of it.
I'm also not expert with Japanese I'm only able to read Hiragana and Katakana and some vocabulary (I heard that Japanese is much more easier to learn than english). Watching some animes sometimes help me a little.

Japanese easier than English? o.O Well, maybe is just the teacher who makes the difference...
It's not a great deal for a PC, it's just a matter of memory: it takes 11.6 GigaBites, and that's huge. And almost 8 or 10 hours to download. You have to leave yor computer alone for a while, or it will take more time.
Those are the useful link given my by Dragonraider.
www.nyaa.se/?page=view&tid… <- original 2003 series torrent
www.youtube.com/watch?v=TqjTPt… <- tutorial: how to do
You've to search for μtorrent program and follow instructions. But don't click without seeing properly what are you doing.
Check the links out, but be careful: don't click "agree" everywhere. You need just the program and only Astro Boy 2003 torrent, not all the other stuff. Be careful and watch out for strange offerings.
You'll see how many difference they are between the series we know and the original one. The order, for esample. But also huge parts and meanings. And, obviously, the cute scenes. ._.
For an example, I love the episode of Brianna. But she has not that name. And the beautiful letter written from Atom is deeply different.
We know that AI robots have Kokoro as a great device which can make them alive and self-conscious and full of feelings; there's nothing like that in the original anime. Robots have heart, and that's all. Some have more, some have less.
I can write my name in various languages. And I can catch the meaning of a speech in many languages. But this does not mean I can understand them or speak all them. I concentrate hard, and I find a logic, but is far from a real comprehension. A word here, a word there... and I try

Hahaha .... it's my brother that told me that. He learnt Japanese when he was in Senior High School, but of course, you can't expect to master that langueage within 3 years
I got to re install my PC someimes because of what I had download. When I attempt to download something (like program, or videos), then accidently I woulld click something dangerous for my PC and as the result, it made my PC slow But thanks for the link, though. I'll try o download that torrent
I love all episodes where either Atlas or Dr. Tenma make their appearance appearance I have watched the episode of Briana in the original version but again, with no subtitle. I love the beggining of that episode when it showed how cute Atom is. You know, the part when he observed a bug from a flower and when he watched those puppies suckling. Ahhh ... I just cannot forget the smile on his face

Yes, he was made for hugs ^_^
I don't know why they cut that.
Well, there's a part in the episode of the Bewitched House in the closed theme park (when Uran helps Shunsuke 'the Beard' Ban): they are in a long corridor full of monsters, western, Japanese... and in a corner some funny author put a zombie, all naked... My God, why?
Well, that's horrible, and it can fit in a horror house. -_-'
If Japanese did not exist, we would better invent them! ♥
If you want to know how deep they changed the show, you need subtitles... even those strange ones of that torrent.
It happened to me too: once a tremendous message appeared on my screen. It said: "Your PC has been attacked by a virus, click here to solve the problem". And I did it. And that click brang the mess to my PC. Now I don't click anything if I am not sure about what I am doing.
Dad also gave me the CCleaner program: everytime you explore the web, you leave tracks, like paws. And many programs catch them and register them somewhere. They sneak in your PC and see your stuff. CCleaner erases the most of them, without touching your files.
It's good for me: I am always on you-tube or facebook, that are full of bad stuff. PC says thank you if is not bothered by unwanted stuff in its memory.
Try, don't be afraid. Just watch your steps.

Did you know? There's a pilot episode, where we see a different graphic style for the 2003's series, and then, there's also a bonus episode: I am not talking about that one where parts of old episodes are all put in one, just for an excuse to make a summary. There's a real bonus episode: it is about the time when Tenma decided to go on with his project, finding the small prototype robot that could become his revived son. It's all in Japanese, but here and there you can catch the meaning of all... and pictures speak very well.

And what is it you said about pilot episode? Were you talking about AstroBoy vs IGZA and Earth's Last episode ? I've seen the epsiode of Earth's Last Day and just a half episode of AstroBoy vs IGZA but again 9sadly there's no subtitle )

I don't know anything about IGZA (what does it mean?)... maybe it's one of the short scenes I saw here and there.
And maybe the Last Day was that one where a boy runs in a wasted city, chased by two robots; he ends up in a ruined museum, where, in a display case, there's Atom, now still and not-living, as a statue. The boy really needs some help: while he's watching the plaque, the robots come. A lightening crashes through the window, and hits Atom. The glass is in pieces, and he seems to move again...
I don't really know that much about the movies. Are they on you-tube?
Once I saw an episode where all Tezuka characters were altogether in Tenma's Mansion; doctor Tenma was stuck on a wheelchair, Atom called him Doctor (that's for me a bit weird, I can't help it: he's father, even if is tremendous! I would not call my father doctor or teacher or architect, even if I had all reasons to hate him) and there were Hamegg, Black Jack with Pinoko, Sharaku and many more. All of them had to solve a mystere, as we were watching Detective Conan ^_^ And, of course, there's Tezuka himself appearing. I did not get a word -_- but image spoke a lot; in any case it was really moving: it was an anniversary film...

No, there aren't in youtube but in tudou.com.
I don't know IGZA mean does either. It's a 40 minutes episode, where Astro and his friends, including his sister, seem having class in outter space. There's also an new character, a red-haired girl, later joins the class (this girl seems to be an important character). After class ends, Abrecombie sneak out into a place - I don't know what place is it called. Anyway, Have you ever seen it? I found that film in tudou.com
www.tudou.com/programs/view/Vz… (Astro vs IGZA). This full film is separated into some videos, so after watching it, you gotta click another video to see the continuation.
And there's also an episode where Astro and the others are celebrating something and then a big robot is found during the party. That robot keeps mentioning a name, which is suspected to be his master. I don't know what episode it is called.
www.tudou.com/programs/view/2o…
And here's an episode called The Earth's Last Day, where Astro meets a boy roboy named Bem (if I wasn't mistaken). Astro saved him from his planet. When Bem wakes up, he's so frightened and then run away. Some soldiers then shoot him but Astro covers him so that Astro is badly damaged. See the full film in here
www.tudou.com/programs/view/E9… (The Earth's Last Day)
As for the episode you said about a boy who run away from two robots chasing him, it's not 'The Earth's Last Day'. Youtube only shows it short. But if you see it from tudou, you'll find that when the glass that keeps Astro breaks into pieces, Astro wakes up and then he saves the boy. The boy then takes Astro to his place. On their way to the destination, Astro suddenly looks in pain and he collapsed. The boy carries him on his back and brings Astro to a scientist, which looks just like Ochanomizu. By the way, if you have yet seen it, just check it out in here
www.tudou.com/programs/view/5U… (so far, I can't find the full episode of it).

Thank you
The idea was to remake the very scene we see in the cartoon. But it would be too boring. So, I imagined this way: we don't see Tenma and Astro's faces, but we don't need, not really; instead, we see the most important actors in the scene, Uran and Ochanomizu.
They want to take Astro home but they found he's been badly manipulated. They can't do anything.
I thought all this would be clear in this very scene, without other features or characters.
A curiosity: I ask myself why nobody tells us about Tobio's mother, Tenma's wife. It's not important to the story, I know... but if you see the picture on the wall, you'll see a black haired woman. There's a photo. Maybe this one is not a fake. I hope so, for Atom. And for Tenma too.
