Description
What to say about this tank...Developed indipendently during the 30s by the Ansaldo firm, probably for the foreign market, it was finally adopted by the Regio Esercito during 1940. As a light tank, it was undoubtedly a huge leap from the L3 : a good 20 mm automatic Breda gun in a rotating turret, somewhat fast for an Italian tank, with radio. Therefore it's easy to understand why it was assigned to cavalry formations, to act as a recon vehicle, and in such a capacity it was ok. Problem : against enemy tanks it proved again and again it didn't have the firepower, the armor, and not even particular speed to surivive the encounter; too bad they had to be used as such against the 8th Army. Some were sent to the Russian front, where they didn't leave a mark either. Variants developed from the original model were a flamethrower tank and the Semovente da 47/32, which I'll discuss in a dedicated page. Overall, not a total failure, but it wasn't what was needed; instead of building it, they should've built more Semoventi da 75, and pushed harder for the P40 tank.

Played World of Tanks today and I asked if the Italians would be in the game...instead I got a harsh response. Also, I know you've done Italian tanks, but I was wondering if you can broaden your horizon and find some information on tanks from other nations, such as Hungary, France, etc. Just a thought, but I felt like I should share that idea to you.

Yeah, few know Italian tanks enough to know they're not exactly "crap" as many believe. So the majority just laughs at the idea.
Well, I've done Italian tanks because I'm Italian, and because I have access to several sources in Italian (there are few English sources on them). French tanks, though, are relatively well-known, so I'm not sure wheter such a work for them would be needed.
Tanks belonging to other nations, instead, would be an interesting addition; however, I know little about them, and I am not sure I can find enough sources to do a thorough work as much as they deserve.

Well, I do know that Romania had a tank destroyer called the Maresal (translated to mean Marshall). It looks very similar to the Hetzer, but was based on a lengthened and widened T-60.
If you want to know anything about them I happen to know a site that not only has information about them but also has some detailed artwork about them. wardrawings.be I believe it's called. Anyways, putting that aside, I hope you have a good day. ... And sorry if I didn't reply to you...I don't normally go on this site much.
