I know I'm a total LAMEZORZ n00b but... how do you mask layers to make it grey but not fuck up the colours when using multiply? All these tutorials always say "DONT FORGET TO MASK YOUR LAYERS" and I'm like "FTW HOW!??!?!!?"

right click on the layer and select something below...
