I have to disagree with you on the "poor ergonomics" of the AN-94. I got the chance too fire one once and I was pleasantly surprised with how comfortable it was to use. Although, to be fair, I have longer arms and thus the longer 94 stock was more up my alley so take my opinion with a grain of salt.
Other than that, good work, you may also want too look into the AK-12. It's the weapon that the Russians plan to replace the AK-74p with by 2020. The scary part is that it is easily superior too the M-16A4 and M4A4 in every respect *that really matters*.

Yeah, sure, except it's not:\
AK-12 is basically AK-74M with picattini rail so aka AK-74M2. Prototype "AK-12" used to win competition with AEK is confirmed to remain just a bunch of complex and expensive prototypes while serial model won't get ANYTHING at all. Not even two sided safety, fire selector and charging handle. So in essence, our damn military can't even copy Galil and Valmet solutions!
Pity that you haven't gotten a chance to clean that AN-94. You'd keep silent about it forever since
