Description
A post-apocalyptic Buzz Bee Rapid Fire Tek, fitted with a homemade peep sight, a breech-fed RSCB, custom stock, modified lever and barrel extension. Note the tally on the stock and the welding seams. I am really happy with this thing - hope you like it, too. It will find its way to my customer today or tomorrow. Criticism and feedback is always welcome!Related content

That is incredible work... not even a hint that this is a foam dart gun!

Thanks!
I made another one with a bottle cap instead of the Recon part I used here. I like the bottlecap one even better but my customer didn't
All you need is a piece of pvc pipe (16mm in this instance), a pipe bracket, a bottle cap (with a small, drilled hole) or the piece of the Recon sight seen here.

I'll have to find where I put that part of my recon's sight and try that myself

i have read elsewhere, e.g. on cracked.com, that easily discernable nerf props can kill suspended disbelief when one is watching a film or tv show, especially when it's either a big budget show or an indy short. however i am a firm believer that absolutely anything can be done well, though rarely is. but in this case you have done excellently. to the untrained eye or even the trained eye, this looks like an improvement on reality rather than a cheap imitation like you'd expect when one tells a viewer that it's really based on a toy. it looks better than a real gun. much better.
Have you considered working with photographers of cosplayers?

Thank you very much!
If anything my mods have been used during post apolcalyptic and zombie themed LARP events - I think the same principles can be applied (it is easier to hold the suspension of disbelief if the props are done well). I would love to get more of a foothold in the prop making scene - whether that would be for cosplay, LARP or even smaller web shows. If you have any advice on that matter I would love to hear it!
Making enough money from my hobby to be able to pay rent and food would be a dream come true

I'm guessing you're not in the US so you don't have to worry about paranoid cops thinking OMGWTFBBQ that is a real gun, right?
Loosely related: I have a friend in San Fran who is an engineering student. He will probably be producing an all-metal "2k" tank. i think the full name of the blaster the design comes from is airtek 2000 but i'm not sure. anyhow air tank blasters require pumping up per shot but have as much power as a very powerful springer. also the 2k handles RSCB's well and is small enough to fit into nerf blasters and might fit into the rapid fire tek one too. you'd have to figure out a pump solution, e.g. retrofitting a bike hand-pump under the center body and dressing it up to look like a unified part of the thing, tubing and all (it will require a spigot adaptor and i can find out the name for you) or you can, on another sort of blaster, integrate the hand pump from another sort of air tank blaster inside. Are you familiar with Psyk's "auto-loading" 3k raider? Psyk is a nerfer from Singapore who has a youtube channel but also has a tutorial thread on nerfhaven about how he made the 3k raider. it will also work well with a 2k tank though trigger linkage might be trickier. Blasterparts.de and possibly Slydev make shotgun grips for the raider/rampage though the best i've seen is the adaptation of a late model nerf supersoaker's pump grip for the purpose. you can hide an airtank blaster's pump inside. i want to do this eventually but make it bolt action instead of "auto loading" so that i can have the full length of a pump to pump it up. Alternatively if i have to have a hand pump externally, never mind.
If you're able to make a shotgun pump on a blaster like this or alternatively any other breach0loading blaster, and have it look as realistic and awesome as the one above is, it will give you a serious edge. Also the audible pop would add to the dramatic effect.
The tank-maker's name is Bradley Matheus btw.

I am indeed German. While I don't think I would get shot over carrying this thing across the street (according to Wikipedia 42 shots were fired by German police in 2013 with 8 fatalities) it is definitely prohibited. I think this would fall under "Anscheinwaffen" laws which apply to anything that looks like a real weapon. This is so I can't go around robbing people with bad eyesight or something Since LARP events are usually on private property not accessible to the public that is no problem, though (and legal as well). Keep in mind I am not a lawyer so anything I say on that matter might not be entirely true.
I will look up your friend as I am currently really interested in making homemade airtanks. I am actually working on a tank similar to the 2k made out of PVC. I am having trouble with the seal, though, so if that doesn't work out... Anyways, check out the Raider I made in cooperation with a friend a couple of months ago:
Internals: www.blasted.de/t4363/#post5978… (scroll down a little for the work he did)
Finished: www.blasted.de/t30-86/#post605… (this thread contains most of the paintjobs and optical mods of the blasted.de community. Should you ever be bored I recommend checking out the pretty pics )
This one is done with a panthertank which fits surprisingly well. It also features a bolt, though I suspect you would want to put it somewhere else. The handle on the pump is from a Lanard Shotgun.
Something I don't understand: Especially in the US people tend to slaughter an airblaster just for the pump. Is that because Nerf is so cheap and easily accesible in thriftstores? They cost a butt load of money here and I usually don't think that the pumps work all that well. This mod is using a double-action ball pump which has a great output and costs a fraction of what I would have to pay for a magstrike or whatever. Can you shed some light on that? Is there an advantage to toy-pumps I am not seeing?
Speaking of airguns: I would really like to tackle this project at some point: img3.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20…
By the way: If your friend is interested in doing the 2k tanks on a large scale I could ask the guys at blasterparts.de if they are interested in selling them for him. Obviously not a promise, though^^
