Description
  I am immobilized by time.
by the idea that it is somehow slipping,
  fleeting,
        evaporating
              through the cracks of
      my fingers and high

             above my head.
I am terrified by the incessant notion
that no combination of thoughts,
    words,
         silences,
              or actions
   could possibly satiate it.

I realize only now that it can never be filled:
all which is tossed into it is swallowed in haste
              or stretched
                       so far
           that it dissolves into non-being.
I find that I am caught within its furrows
much like the words it devours:
       swelling,
               ebbing,
                    suspending
   between its twisted arms
and I find myself aching
to do so much at once
 that I end up doing
      nothing
   at all.

I love this. Time is perplexing and agonizingly slow to pass, and quick to lose.

I love how your poems are so deep and beautiful and yet they are so easy to relate to! I really like how you made the words at different indentations too, it helped strengthen the...what would you call it...rhythm of the poem.

Well thank you for reading! As Fitzgerald said, "That is part of the beauty of literature: you discover that your longings are universal longings, you are not lonely and isolated from anyone"

time is the universal constant. it can be a friend or an enemy, depending on how we use it. thanks for writing for us.

It's funny how humans are the only creatures on earth who fear that it (or rather, they) will run out. Thank you for reading (:

I know you might not agree but I believe it is because we are made in the image of God, the Great Timekeeper

Yes, well God can be such a widely pantheistic term that it's possible to find it in nearly every living breathing modicum of life if one only wants to see it. For the Pantheists (and naturalists for that matter), it can be found in the set of physical laws that govern the universe, somewhere off in the cosmos - a manifestation, rather than a singular entity. For those with religion (or, relationships, as I know some Christians prefer) God can be found as this one, singular deity in which they believe their lives are due. I'll admit that either one of these would be a lovely way to perceive the world, But it's just too impossible for me to believe. However, I fully respect your views and I thank you for your comments. They always keep me thinking! (:

Yes, thank you, I read them. As it seems it is all the same bit of information my parents have been telling me for the expanse of my 15 years on earth (and that I've been telling others up until two years ago, when I began to realize that there were, in fact, other ways of thinking) However, it's nice to know that you all would share the same views (:

I know many mistake atheists for people who do not read the bible, but the most I know are just as familiar with scripture as any devout Christian.

yes HTN there are other views, all designed to destroy a person's faith in an all-wise Creator, all part of Satan's propoganda machine. you're still young, there is still time. wish you well.
