My influence map... really only a tiny fraction of the things that influence me c:

<- These guys are a trifecta of perfection.
If I get into why I like each of them so much, it'll get stupid so just know that they are probably the biggest influences for me above all else.

4. Scooby-Doo, Where Are You!
I watched an in-exorbitant amount of Scooby as a kid, along with the Munsters and The Addams Family.
I have always had a preference for the macabre. I still totally watch these shows.

5. southern folklore
I was born and raised in Georgia, and most of my family members still live in the south, so all of the folktales and superstition have definitely had an effect on the way I write.
Most if not all of my stories are set in the deep south. Honestly, I wouldn't want to live anywhere else, magic is rich in the air here.

6. James Bauer
Every one of his pieces looks like a precious stone. It breaks my heart that he died so young.

7. nocturnal animals
Bats are seriously like kittens with wings. There are loads of nocturnal animals where I live, it's awesome <3

8. Robert Johnson
... and Memphis Minnie. Also Leadbelly. Early blues is at the root of most great music to this day, imo.

9. freckles
I freaking love freckles! I put them on most of my leading ladies c:

10. Jim Henson
Another thing I watched and still watch a stupid amount of- 80's fantasy movies. Especially those of the Jim Henson flavor.
Labyrinth, Dark Crystal, Legend, Willow, The Princess Bride, etc etc.

11. Arthur Rackham
I still remember the first time I opened up the Arthur Rackham copy of The Legend of Sleepy Hollow in the library.
My mind was blown, like, you can do this with art? Seriously? Hah hah hah.

12. FLCL
So moving. If it wasn't for Gainax I would have completely lost my faith in anime.

She keeps me on my toes c:

Oh man I cannot get enough early cartoons. They're so carefully rendered, I wish that cartoons were still so involved.

He's a genius <3 Death Proof is my favourite of his, but both Kill Bills are definitely a close second.

The first time I saw one of her pieces in person I kept going back to it, over and over again.
She reminds me that most things I will never understand.

18. glow in the dark
I collect glow in the dark things <3 beads, paint, trinkets. My collection is little now, but I'm sure one day it will be impressive.
A lot of my stories involve things that have to glow in the dark.

19. Afro-American religions
Hoodoo, voodoo, vodou, etc. I've been studying these religions independently for a number of years now.
My stories also involve a lot of conjure magic.
