Yes, it truly is elegant. Maybe it's the emblem of some secret society.

This is such an elegant and graceful pattern. I love the dimension-ality of it with the ribbons undulating in a sensual dance.

Oh my. Any hints on how to achieve something like this? I recognize the bipolar tiles but have no clue on how you managed the leaf-shapes and the central part. I assume the latter is also a bipolar, possibly the final transform, but that's as far as my knowledge currently takes me.

Well, first you have to sell your soul for wicked fractalling powers.
Okay, it starts off with a splits-elliptic (use cylinders to bring out the pattern more). Then, I have a spherical linked to the elliptic, which makes the leafy thing. Then I turn off opacity of all the xforms, and add a xform with splits. Then that goes to bipolar, and then I build the bipolar pattern in pretty much the typical way, as described in this tutorial: Tutorial - The secret of empty half-planes (this is basically the same sort of thing, only using something other than a tile to fill the gaps.)
And then yup, you guessed it, a bipolar final xform.

Ah, of course, the splits-elliptic technique. Guess I should practice that one. Thanks for the detailed explanation!
And uh, where can I sell my soul?

And so you should be, it's a beauty! A lovely design and composition with smooth crisp lines. Perfect.
