Description
Hello once again! I wanted to play with a Vulcan list with my Imperial Fists just for a change, but I had a problem with the model I could use. Obviously the original model was not an option since it is a Salamanders model. Forgeworld provided me with the solution. I used as a base the magnificent model of Lugft Hyron with a few bits from MaxMini and some photo etched parts from Forgeworld again to give him some character. You can see some WIP pics on my blog [link] before painting I am really happy with the way this model turned out! I would really like to hear your comments, remarks and see your votes on CoolMiniOrNot [link] !Related content

actually I don't think the design is based on a specific Mark helmet. It kinda reminds me of the Mark II but I used it mainly for the looks of it. I think it gives him character.

The helmet is from MaxMini. I'm not sure if they still produce them, try searching on their website, you might find them!

As your work provides inspiration for me!
I'm attempting to paint the blades of my force weapons in the same manner. You've achieved an awesome lighting effect; strong contrasts create a convincing appearance. If you've got any advice, I'd appreciate it.

I'm really honored that you find my work inspiring! The blade effect was achieved through layers of midnight blue up to almost white in some areas. The key to achieving this strong contrast is to reverse the dark-light pattern when the blade changes curves (for example the place where the blunt part of the blade becomes the sharp part). I don't know if I can explain it correctly. Maybe I will make a tutorial some day with pictures to show it more thoroughly!

Awesomesauce!
Fantastic detailing and color work as always. I especially dig the work you put into the blade. The conversion parts all work really well as well. Who new Astral Claws elements could be reworked so well for Imperial Fists?
On a side note, what's your secret for such nice yellows? I have the most abysmal luck with anything that isn't Iyaden Darksun. It either refuses to coat smoothly out of the pot, or if I thin it with even a drop of water it won't coat.

Thank you! From the moment that I saw this model I knew that I had to do something to add him in my army! Glad that it worked out that well
Yellow is indeed a very tricky color to paint. What I usually do is start with Iyaden Darksun as a basecoat and then build the highlights with golden yellow and yellow-white mix. At the same time I blend the colors with sepia and brown inks. Its a labor of love and pretty much time consuming but I like the result.

That is what i find funny about them I have low opinions about the Necrons codex but the models looks all tempting for me to buy and paint

Thanks!! I think I will avoid posting it on FW because I have used some other non-Forgeworld bits and I don't know how they will think of it.
The background is a printed backdrop I found on Massive Vodoo [link]
