Lately I've been hearing a lot about DC having a reboot.
What bothers me most is that I get varying info on what exactly this means.
I've heard that it just means costume changes, I've heard it means that everything's starting over fresh starting from 10 years ago, I've heard that they're just taking everything in a new direction, I've heard it's going to be temporary, I've heard that they're starting over completely, I've heard it's going to be permanent...
So as you can imagine this has made me a little bit bummed out.
Mainly because it seems that DC is undoing a lot of great things they've been building up over the years, like Dick and Damian's partnership, and how awesome Babs has become even after being crippled and put in a wheelchair (not that people in wheelchairs aren't awesome).
The only thing that looks good that's coming out of this supposed reboot is where Jason's ending up.
But heaven knows where that could go.
I swear, american comics are the only comics I know that have backtracked on their own timelines.
If they're rebooting just to get new readers with new storylines (as I have also heard), it probably will just confuse new and old readers alike more than entice them.
And it seems that shows like YJ and stuff have gotten people to actually go to reading DC's stuff, like B & R.
A lot of the people I've seen that get into the YJ fandom quickly get into Damian and the whole Batman family afterwards (I feel special because I liked Damian before I got into YJ ).
BTW, does anyone know what's happening to Damian in this reboot? If he's made Dick's sidekick as Nightwing (which I highly doubt), then I won't mind everything else so much.
Though I'll still be sort've ticked if everything doesn't work out nicely.
Plus, how'm I gonna keep doign these New Addition comics if I have no material to parody?
Anyways, sorry for the rant. I just don't feel good about what's happening over at DC right now.

Not so much Dick being Nightwing again, just that he will not have Damian at his side (which is what attracted a lot of new fans to Batman comics in the first place).

I know exactly what you mean...I guess I'm one of the "new readers" since I only recently got into all of this. And I've mostly been obsessing over Red Robin so far, so I was just about to explore the "DIck and Damian as Batman and Robin" when all of a sudden...they're not.
This is just my luck, getting into something RIGHT before the reboot.

i love your art style and this is so sad and adorable the reboots didnt have me worried till i got some flaspoint comics that r suppose to lead into it and they have(FLASPOINT SPOILERS) thomas wayne as batman and bruce died instead wonderwoman is at war with aquaman and r destroing the world and barry allen the only one with memory of the correct world looks as if he suceeded in killing himself and its freaking me out why zoom why and i only have number flaspoint #2 and a couple #1 series what more can they do(FLASHPOINT SPOILER ENDED) sorry for my rant but this all has me sad and worried and again great art

From the 50 or so covers that are displayed on ifanboy, it would seem Damian is no longer partners with Dick. I like the costume changes so far, with the sole exception being Superman in Action Comics. His costume sucks as far as I'm concerned, but I can get used to it. I'm happy about Red Hood and Barbara, but frightened that Tim and Steph aren't going to be a part of the Batfamily. I heard a rumor from someone else, but I doubt it's at all credible so I'm not too, too worried but still...with this reboot, I suppose it's a possibility. I don't know whether to be bummed or excited yet, but I'm so super ticked since I just found out about it. No internet for a week and look what happens...

Okay, well that I can definitely live with. Babs is my number one anyway. I really really hope the whole thing works out better than it seems like it will work out. I'm trying to have a good attitude about it, but its so fresh in my mind I think I'm still taking it in.

Also, I don't think Babs can calm Dick down considering she's getting reverted back to Batgirl and I don't think she's happy about it! Or Steph...or Cass.....If you think about it, I think the only person who's benefiting from all this is Jason!

Apparently Damian is going to be Bruce's robin now. And there has been costume changes, as well as completely re-doing things. It's a huge combination.

Ugh, the reboot...
Yeah, Dick is now a RED Nightwing. Figure that one out. I think Dami may be Bruce's Robin (I bet they'll kill each other within two issues). I know Jason is going to be starting his own group with Roy and Starfire.

Damian's gonna stay as the Robin, just with Bruce. But if you wanna continue New Addition, it shouldn't be that hard. DC said that Dicks time as Batman with Damian is still relevant, so Dick and Damian still know each other, it's just that Dick went and became Nightwing again... You could keep doing New Addition, just with Dick as Nightwing.

Jason got his own series... and one of his partners is Starfire. I'm still trying to grasp that idea. And the last thing I heard is Damian is staying as Robin.
I loved Babs as Oracle. Think about it, she's on a wheelchair and she still beats Ra's al Ghul's assassins! If that's not badass, I don't know what it is. If they do the "return to being Batgirl" wrong, I'm going to run away from DC as fast as I can.
If they wanted to make a new line, why don't do it like Marvel and create an entire separate line that would start from zero? The new costumers can follow that line without being worried about the tons of old material, old readers could keep with what they were reading without a sudden change, and also they could be interested in buying the new line. Sometimes, you have to wonder why people don't copy good ideas like that...

Again? Weren't they like, done with that after those Crisis on Earth or whatever comic stuff? Haven't they rebooted their storylines like, twice already?
I'm of the "got into the bats family after watching Young Justice" faction, and it took me a while to understand just the general backstory of the robins! Wikipedia wasn't much help when looking at them individually, because it didn't explain what the whole Crisis thing was or anything. After a good while of research, and the aid of a DC Bat-Family fan who kindly explained Crisis to me in simple terms, I was able to get the hang of it.
But it was complicated. And I remember before getting into the Bats family, there were just the DC Supremacists that sneered at you if you just watched Young Justice but didn't know the full back story of each character. Because if you didn't, you could NOT appreciate the giant punch Superboy was to the timeline by being in a cartoon with Dick Grayson as Robin, and on and on and on.
To put it mildly, it was annoying.
If they do it again, well, I don't have much to investigate again, but new fans will be even MORE confused than I was, for sure.
If it was just rebooting costumes and such details that don't really affect the stories they have now, then it would be ok. But re-writing everything? In the matter of following a storyline and sticking to it, I'll go for oriental comics any day. Manga might not have awesome alternate universes, but its easier to follow if you suddenly decide to jump into a fandom.
Gaah. I just hope they don't actually dissolve the Grayson!Bats - Damian!Robin partnership. ; A;
But, didn't it say somewhere Bruce was coming back from being dead, anyway? I sort of figured maybe that would force Richard out of the cowl, anyway... but its one thing for that to happen because of Bruce's return, and a very different thing for it to happen because of a magic giant eraser. And I'm not all that sure of the Bruce-comes-back, because I only catch up several weeks or months after something happens.
Bruce came back. And he allowed Dick to keep the mantle (because he was going off to start Batman inc.).
And yes, manga is easier to get into in terms of jumping into the fandom. That's one thing I still admire about it
And it'd be A LOT better if it was just a reboot of costumes or minor details.

I was a big B&R fan long ago but lost track of the series when they dropped the series in germany and now got back to it
