A/N: Finished drawing of my first work. Added a lot more detail to it. My eyes hurt from looking at it now since I\'ve been staring at it for five days straight... First time learning experience with colored pencils. Still riddled with mistakes but I\'ll take it.

Scene info: One night when he was going to bed, Maurer felt something calling to him. He followed this urging feeling to the lake within the Dragon Cave. Taking a small boat he rowed to it and was confronted by a young Gyrados. Terrified of their well known rage, Maurer braced himself for the serpent\'s attack, but it never did. This one was calm and even came up to him slowly and looked as though it wanted him to touch it. Finding its actions to be familiar, Maurer realized the Gyrados had actually been a Magikarp he had befriended and helped get over a waterfall when it couldn\'t. It chose him to be its trainer, allowing him to gain the Mark of a Dragon Tamer.

Home/Region: Hoen, Switched between Pacifidlog and somewhere in a forest around Mt. Pyre every season.

Being the son of a pokemon breeder and a high monk priest, Maurer had always had a deep connection to the world around him. At an early age, it was noticed that he had inherited his parent\'s talents for understanding pokemon and being able to bring out their potential.

At ten he set out on his journey with his father\'s white ninetails which was handed down from his grandfather and now his father handed to him. Being raised around lakes and oceans it wasn\'t a surprise that he soon became a specialist at training water pokemon, his first being a horsea.
After a year journey of traveling through Hoen, he went to Kanto and stopped at blackthorn city. Fascinated by the culture of dragon tamers, he joined their clan in hopes of learning more about them. Though the training was tough and vigorous, Maurer unknowingly excelled at the spiritual concept of it. A part of training which was judged in secret by the masters in order for them to find potential tamers and decide those who may be able to receive the mark of a dragon tamer.

The mark is given through many different ways. It can be received through battle, a capturing of a dragon, or even a series of tests depending on the type of trainer they are. For Maurer, it was a spiritual test. One night when he was still in training, he felt as though something was calling to him. Following it to the lake within the Dragon Cave, Maurer was confronted by a young gyrados. Being in a small row boat he was terrified since newly evolved ones were usually more enraged and attacked anything insight. However, this gyrados was different. It was calm and even allowed the boy to pet it. That\'s when Maurer realized the gyrados was the evolved form of a magikarp he had befriended and it chose him as it\'s trainer. From then on, he became a full fledge dragon tamer and is known by his peers as the \"Dragon of the Abyss\"

He now journeys around the world to learn and discover new things. His goal is to one day meet the Dragon Master Lance as well as to retrieve his friend, the \"Dragon of the Void\".
