Description

This Premontre monastery church is located near Budapest, Hungary, in a neat little town called Zsámbék (something like ['zham-beik] if you want to pronounce it). Origins reach back to the XIII. c. and the monastery badly damaged during the Turkish occupation in the XVI. c. The final blow to knock it unuseable came on June 28, 1736 when an earthquake destroyed even the last remnants. Since then it is ruined, though there were attempts to fix or at least stabilize things. But even in its ruins this is one of the finest example of Gothic architecture in Hungary.

I went there in April with two friends from Sardegna, Italy and took my little dear Yashica MAT 124G loaded with a roll of Ilford HP5+ stock. When I arrived home that day, I couldn't find the roll and developed it way later, about the end of September. Fortunately the BW film took well the long delay in harsh warm and ever changing climate of a forgotten pocket of my camera bag.
