Description
Yesterday I was not realy happy with my picture of alice-overdose in a cup....I like the CGI and the Compositing and Ophelia is a beautifull Alice
But the picture was lifeless ( not strong...)
I believe I worked for the 3D and compositing and lost the final picture
I think about it and make a new Version with a better perspective, remake the cup and a better pose...
Do you like this version more ?
What can do to get a better picture ?
Rendering in MAYA 2010 ( with MR and fluids )

Cool think we would ever see her modeling as Alice stuck in a small room giant size?

I love that water, for some reason it looks more real than real water itself

Ophelia makes a great Alice. The CGI water looks really cool too.

And I was just thinking "I wonder if he's done anything with Ophelia?" my answer comes!
This is amazing!

That water is far too clean . It lacks life. It's very pretty, yes, but "it looks like the fresh toilet water in which you drop the blue thing in" as my friend put it.
Water that clean would be very very reflective. Even in normal ocean water that is blue with a tinge of greens and browns, there would be slightly more reflection going on...only slightly, but you have supremely blue clean water.
The cup seems almost too smooth, a stain, a yellow patch, some shadows on the actual cup would make it more plausible. Anything but pure white.
The light looks like it's everywhere. You should have tried a physical sun and sky light, turn on the photons and caustics and global illumination to create a better feel of light.
And in Alice's leg area, it's too clear that it's been cut. You need a smoother transition.

you should put it in the Alice in Wonderland compitition.

I think because her hand is so pale, when it's in front of her blonde hair, it gets lost. Maybe if she had it flung out to touch the waves, or hanging limply over the edge of the cup...

I think a closer frame would help. There's way too much zero space.

Personally I like it, but maybe you could make a stronger reflection in the water of the cup and Ophelia's legs dangling over the side?

The water is simply amazing and it's pretty seamless. She's a bit too "clean" (as in unreflected, unaffected by the environment) but as an abstract picture it works.

I like this one more than the last one because i thought she had to much make-up on. I still do but its harder to tell from the angel the picture was shot at.
I also feel like she isn't in the setting the way she would be-if that makes sense. I dont feel like her body and facial expression match what your trying to do here.
Great concept and kudo's on the watter.

Really cool concept. Love this picture!
Crit:
The front shoe, I almost feel as if it ruins the perspective because we are able to see the sole of the shoe. Her legs seem to give the illusion of pointing further back, but then you get to the sole and suddenly it's pointing more towards us.
Also, some disturbance in the water where it is lapping up on the cup and perhaps some kind of ripple where the cup is displacing the water as it glides through it. I really like the underwater piece and believe that if you do do the lapping water and adding that underwater consistency you'll get a better feel of buoyancy.
Placing some debris in the water might add that extra UMPF that you're looking for as well. The whole scene is about her crying so much that it floods out a room, and thus is surrounded by the various objects.
This probably cannot be fixed, but I'm not sure how you create something like this, that's the pixel artist in me, but her legs sticking straight out, almost like she's holding them in that position makes the image fell static. If her legs were pointing different, or one knee slightly more bent than the other, it would add that sense of motion of her trying to keep her balance in this cup.
Again, the piece is fantastic and the water is mind blowing. Truly a great work.

I do like this picture. The same way I usually appreciate seeing your photographs.
However I feel that the picture has life, but needs something to make it pop a litte. Maybe crop it to make the "Alice" a little bit more obvious or put another color to add a nice contrast like changing her headband to red and giving her lips a red tint. Just to make it pop a little bit. After all she is the centerpiece of the picture right?
Somehow I hope that helps. I hope I don't seem like a blabbermouth whose commenting as an outsider

The water is amazing. I might recommend when you consider a pose, give her more of a shocked or worried expression. She is, after all, suddenly floating in a cup in a sea of her own tears.
