This is my Hamstonia-tree 04. I tested some other version (So 3 of course
)In my first try I thought about a painted version like deep-canvas (Disneys Tarzan) it looks very
fine but in my opinion it doesnΒ΄t work with a real hamster. The second one was very realistic but realism is
not very cute. This is my 4th version made with Z-Brush
and Cinema 4D. ln MY opinion it looks nice but my girlfriend told me that this picture reminds her
of an very skinny and ugly Cheerleader with green pompoms
I think it is not perfect jet but I like it! Do you have any opinions? Critique is ALWAYS welcome!!!
At the moment I incline to a version which is very simplified like in a Hello Kitty animation...

Looks like an alien... just add some eyes to the green fluffy thingsd and it's perfect!
I think it would look better when you don't do four separate leaf pillows but one big one.
And maybe not such a striking poison-violett color, I think brown (though more realismn, it's not always bad) would look better
maybe you can find another color that looks better
and I think the current texture looks a bit like leather-like skin, not like a tree...

i think the color and bright light on the tree trunk makes it look a lot like plastic so if you dimmed the light a little and darkened the purple it would look cute but not like a barbie material. i LOVE the look on the tree bushels those are PERFECT. don't touch 'em. the grass shouldn't look realistic i agree but it looks a little TOO fake. i think that's it.

I think it looks rather seuss-ish, which is good! But there's something... bothering me about the lighting and the grass. If I'm not looking at the edges of the square it looks like an image on a flat plane. Squinting and looking closely I think it's the grass's interaction with the root on the front left, that crazy 4-pronged hand'y lookin' thing. I think the other roots look nice and smooth and you can see where the grass overlapps, but not with the one on the front left, I don't know if it's texture of the tree or odd overlapping geometry or what but it looks pretty jagged and doesn't meld well with the grass, thus making the grass look like an image on a plane.

I have to confess that my first thought was that of a cheerleader as well. o^^o Maybe you should add a lower branch on the front of the tree, at the place looking like a pregnant belly? The idea of round bushes of leaves is funny anyway and cute.
As for the color of the trunk, maybe have something less flashy and between purple/brown?

I like it, personally it reminds me of the Horton Hears a Who movie that's coming out..I agree that the trunk looks weird...almost too fake...It sort of reminds me of the plastic-y stretchy goo that you get as a kid...I dunno...maybe add something to the trunk of it..you know what would help..some moss on it, or maybe some sort of flowery vine...^_^
