Description
Poor little Gino...Working on cat shelters is not only cute. Here is an example for human cruelty: Gino was struck by a car and the driver drove on and let him on the street. There he was laying in pain. He had no change to survive, cause his legs were broken and he had wounds...
But he had a lot of luck: A nice human found him and brought him to the cat-aid-organisation and they brought him to the vet, paid for the expensive operations and spend the time for caring for him... It tooks about 3 weeks till he was able to walk again but he managed it
To the picture: It is not my best work, but I want to show the opposite of my cats! The "collar" around Ginos neck was necessary to prevent licking on his legs and wounds, cause that would lead to an infection and that would be VERY bad, so he had to learn to live with that thing till the danger is over...
All in all you can say that Gino becomes not to a cat with 8 lives but he is well, found a new home where he is loved

It so heart-warming for me to see people like you who has a caring soul and a lot of love for animals.
It's a nice coincidence that I've found your page here right now when I'm so worried for one of our cats who is ill. He was born here by us and now he is almost 1 year old. I love him so much. I have never been a cat-preson, but I love animals in general and couldn't help loving his mother when I found her in our garden for the first time. It all started then and now we take care of his kids, too.
I don't know if he can recover but I strongly hope. We took him to the vet almost every day since last Friday. I think to myself, there are so many unfortunate cats out there who deserve much more, and we are here, a family who do care, and this little fellow could live happily on. So I hope and pray for that.
Thank you for showing others the amazing creatures the cats are. I wish you can arouse love for them in many people and draw their attention to the importance of animal-aid-organisations.

regardless of whether cute or not. it's definitely absurd to do that! aside from the fact that it is cruel and heartless

In all seriousness...Poor kitty....Some people are just so cruel and heartless...We have birds that nest in our roofs at school and the students throwing stuff at them and then they wonder why they get swooped...

Poor kitty! I can't believe someone would do that. You think that any person would get out to help an animal, especially if they hit it. And what makes me mad too is that people hit animals on purpose sometimes. >(

I don't understand how people can be so cruel and cold-hearted. I mean, look at him! He's so sweet and he has such an expressive face! To think that he could have just died in the road unnoticed is so sad...
From a technical (or artistic, whatever) sense, the picture is well taken. The focus really seems to be his eyes and the lighting is nice.

Doesn't look like they had to do too much surgery on him (which is good) since only his front legs have been shaved (from what I can see) He does remind me of a similar case down at the cat shelter where I volunteer.

My cat had to wear one of those cones for a few weeks when she had life-saving surgery about a year ago. The look on her face while she was sick was heart breaking, and it wasn't much happier while she recovered, wearing the cone. Luckily she made a full recovery and is purring by my side this second.
The kitty in this photo reminds me of the troubled looks my little kitty gave me during those terrifying days. This picture made me laugh, and it really made me cry. The epitome of a magnificent photo.
You do wonderful work, with your art and with your organization. Congratulations.

This sort of thing really makes me dislike people - those ones who do anything like that at all, let alone to cats! We have neighbours who can't stand cats. Well to protect ours, we have them specially fenced into our garden and property with arches over and inwards, so that they can't get out.
The peace of mind is great!!

I too find that those who are intentionally cruel to animals should be offered the chance to recieve the same treatment that they inflicted upon the animal.
I myself am a "Guardian" or "Angel" with the local and national organization here in the states, called the ASPCA. They even have here in some states, what are called Humane Officers or "Animal Cops" whom are considered legal and binding officers of the law and can arrest persons suspected of and charged with animal cruelity (some of them can even carry a firearm). They will usually also remove the animal or animals from the situation adn take them to the local shelter for care, treatment nad rehabilitation.
At this time teh following places in the US actually have dedicated official task forces: Detroit, Houston, Miami, New York City, Philidelphia, Phoenix and San Francisco. There are other places though that have such programs, but from what I know, in these cities, they are allowed to actually arrest and deal with the suspect, where as some other places don't, and they can investigate, but have to bring in a second officer of the law to actually make an arrest. Hell they even have a series on the Discovery channel here, that follows the Animal Cops of the cities above nad you get to see first hand what they do everyday.

It may not be what you concider your best work, but it's a very moving photograph. I wouldn't be suprised to see it on a poster advocating animal protection and shelters. It is a stunning image that brings up a whole surface of emotion, and the kitty himself is a beautiful animal, who looks both sad, hopefull and a bit frustraited for having this plastic sheild about his neck. Wonderful image.
