Description Poor little Gino...

Working on cat shelters is not only cute. Here is an example for human cruelty: Gino was struck by a car and the driver drove on and let him on the street. There he was laying in pain. He had no change to survive, cause his legs were broken and he had wounds...
But he had a lot of luck: A nice human found him and brought him to the cat-aid-organisation and they brought him to the vet, paid for the expensive operations and spend the time for caring for him... It tooks about 3 weeks till he was able to walk again but he managed it

To the picture: It is not my best work, but I want to show the opposite of my cats! The "collar" around Ginos neck was necessary to prevent licking on his legs and wounds, cause that would lead to an infection and that would be VERY bad, so he had to learn to live with that thing till the danger is over...

All in all you can say that Gino becomes not to a cat with 8 lives but he is well, found a new home where he is loved

Excuse me. I absolutely do not like cats,
and viewing your amazing gallery didn't change that at all.

But mind you, this is the best picture I've seen in some time.
Bloody sensational.

It is always nice to hear that a not-cat-lover (sorry my English is sometimes a little poor so I do not the correct word...) likes my work

I accidentally hit a cat with my car once (it was NOT my fault, just so you know. The cat gave no warning at ALL. I could not stop fast enough to avoid it, and I could not swerve off the road).

I didn't stop after the hit because I was in shock, and I knew it was dead. I didn't just leave it there, though. I had my dad move it off of the road so it could have a dignified death of sorts. I could think of nothing worse than having its body stay on that road... just to get... mangled... (shudder)

Hitting a cat isn't cruel unless you do it on purpose. When I hit that cat I was very VERY sorry about it, and I cried. Being a cat owner myself, it was, needless to say, not the happiest day of my life.

So I disagree that hitting a cat is cruel (on accident, anyway). Leaving it isn't so terrible, either, if you're a very impressionable young person who would rather not see dead bodies. I took care of it, anyway, by having my dad move it off of the road. So the cat still had a decent burial.

...still, if it's entirely possible to avoid hitting a cat, please do. I do not recommend that experience of mine, even though none of it was my fault.

Thank you so much for your interesting comment and opinion! I think there are situations we can not control ans so noone is guilty in such moments. But after youΒ΄ve hit the cat you KNEW that it was dead. I think Ginos injuries caused by accident were bad but the person who hit him knew that he was not dead... So you was shocked but nevertheless you felt responsible of what happened to you and you was kind enough to rescued the body from being mangled. I think both situations were not really comparable! I think you would helped him if you came back with your dad and found that the cat would be alive and wounded...
So feel hugged for what happened to you I think everyone who drive a car could have that situation, too...

Poor thing. My cat was hit by a car and the driver didn't bother to stop for him so he died slowly, cold and alone before we found his body. I hate such careless, cruel people. They have no emotion or empathy whatsoever.

When my cat was hit, the lady who hit him actually stopped. It happened RIGHT in front of my house, so as I went outside to see what happened, I saw him laying there. At that point he was dead but his nerves were making him breathe, so I ran back in crying. After a bit the lady came over and comforted me and offered to take the body away for me. It was nice to see that compassion is still alive and well.

I think it can happen that a cat got hidden by a car. It is always sad but it can happen to everyone who drives a car. the lady's behavior is really outstanding and you are right: compassion in such a situation will not take away the pain but it makes it easier if you think about it. Feel hugged for your kitty

Oh, this breaks my heart! Poor kitty! But at least now he has a home where he is loved!
There are no real cat/dog shelters in my country yet, and it's terrible, but I hope this would change. For that reason there are many street dogs and cats in my country, especially in the capital Sofia where I live. I resquet a kitty and a dog from the street, so now we have two cats and two dogs, and that's all we can do, living in an apartment...

Uh I think Bulgaria has a lot of trouble with cats and dogs... But I think people will start to respect them but ItΒ΄ll need some time. There are a few organizations in Bulgaria who rescued street-animals and I hope that they become more...

Thank you for answering me! I hope too that the organisations for rescuing dogs and cats in my country will become more. Not long ago a friend of mine and I tried to find a place for a younf female dog, they told us there is a German organisation, but there were no free places. Luckily an elderly family took the doggy, so she already has a home. But still, there are so many, many other homeless dogs and cats...Let's hope for a better future...

poor little Gino. That happened to our dog... he ran into the street when we opened the door to go outside because he wanted to change a bird and a driver drove past speeding and hit him and then kept going. It was sad..

What happened to Gino happened to a cat on our street too. I was jogging and saw a cat laying on the side of the road and discovered she had been hit. so I called my sister to bring the car and a body surfing board and when she got there we put the cat on the surf board like a stretcher and rushed her to the animal emergency center.
