Description
Art-trade with my precious ♥♥She asked me to draw Oscar and Kate Walker from the videogame Syberia... I hope I got them right!
Also, I hope you don't mind I used our AT to experiment with coloring and ambiental light ^^
These two were so much fun to draw♥

Hello, and greetings from a.deviantart.net/avatars/p/r/p… " alt=" " title="ProjectComment" />!
I love the very "comic still" feel of this image. It's one of the most appealing aspects of the piece at first glance. The rich coloring also serves you well, making someone pause to take a longer look at the picture. I also think you put a great deal of detail into the image, and you managed to do so in such a way that it doesn't detract from the scene. For example, the pattern on the chair upholstery as well as in Oscar's clothes, and the jacket that Kate is wearing, along with the way the shirt collar is trapped underneath it - these are all smaller details, but you've rendered them incredibly well.
I also love the light coming through the side and bottom of the curtain and the way you have the color lighter on the wall as a result. The shadow lines along the floor are beautifully done as well. Another thing I really like is the way you portrayed her shorter calves and shins. As a short person, I know what it is to not have your feet touch the floor except with the tips of your toes. You did a wonderful job with that small touch.
There are a couple of things I would like to point out though. The carafe Oscar is holding seems to be a bit "off" - I think it's how far back his hand holding the handle is, since I'm fairly certain the intent was to show him tilting it to pour. I think if that angle were changed slightly it might also help with the angle of his wrist which appears about to be sprained.
One other thing I would mention is Kate's figure. I certainly don't expect a stick figure or anything like that. But with her having a bit more fullness in some areas, her face appears slightly too thin. I'm not suggesting that you turn her into the Pillsbury-dough-girl, but I think perhaps a little rounder curve of her chin rather than the sharp angle might make her appearance more congruous.
Overall, though, I do love this piece and I think you did an absolutely wonderful job with it. Thank you so much for sharing and for allowing us to critique this as part of comment month!

Thank you so much for this lovely critique! I'm really happy you like my work! Thanks for all your nice words♥
And thanks for the tips about Oscar's hand, I still struggle a lot with hands and their gesture! I agree with you with what you have to say about Kate's face as well! After finishing the work I didn't like it much, but I really wasn't able to figure out what was wrong!

Sorry for the delay in responding to this.
I honestly believe that's the best reason to share your work in a community like this - because even though you recognize that something is keeping it from being "perfect" you can't quite seem to tell what it is that's lacking. That's usually because you've been staring at it too long.
I have a good deal of trouble with feet myself, but there are some great tutorials that I've found on site to help a bit. I've got a few links for some on hands if you want to take a look at them:
I'm sorry that it didn't appeal to you once it was finished, but I'm glad I was able to help point out some areas that might help you to like it more if they're altered slightly. I do love the attention to detail in the image overall, truly!
(Especially the length of Kate's legs and the way you depicted her height. I'm not joking about totally knowing how that feels!
)

Sei riuscito a riprodurre i vestiti uguali spiccicati.
