Some believe that Ipos made this proclamation due to her mental instability, and most blow her off as a mere "Fool" or "buffoon", but in Ipos' case looks can and are quite deceiving indeed; she is far more than a mere harlequin (or rather Hellequin). Despite being a little touched in the head, she is quite crafty and uses other's perceptions of her to her advantage. In other words, it is Ipos that has been fooling US all along!

So, I've had Ipos in mind off and on since 2005 or so, but nothing really came of it aside from one sketch (which I actually found on my old PhotoBucket account and currently I can't decide if I should Sta.sh it for prosperity and post a link here so just let is rot in my Scraps folder) until recently when I decided to give this character an extreme makeover. Needless to say I love her to bits now. : D
Also, a big thanks for girl-withagun for helping me with the metal bits. I couldn't decide if I should to use tin or silver (tin for Earl; silver for Prince) for her bling-bling. Maya suggested that since Ipos is an Earl-Prince her bling-bling should consist of both metals. I thought of the two would clash but then I applied it and really liked it. It's super effective!

Lol, but I really like her design. And the background story too. I find demonolgy very interesting, it's really intriguing to read about what people in the medieval thought up in their heads to explain the world. Also many medieval demonology and monster books have really funny illustrations.
Also agree, Jester's were mostly the more intelligent people and saner than the other inhabitants of the court

Yeah, that or drugs or simply the lack of modern entertainment forced them to think up the most hilarious things to amuse themselves XD However some of them still make for interesting creatures. To be honest I am really disappointed how people overlook some of the creatures in those old illustrated medieval books as they are an endless source of inspiration for monsters. Instead people often stick to the most well known (vampires, medusas, etc.)
Even many demons in the Goetia are rather underrated, it's mostly Belial/Baal they pick.

Or people just stick with the "horned human" archetype when making demons (I'm guilty of this one of course). Either that or they just make said demons gratuitously gross for the sake of "shock value" and they just come off as trying to be edgy.
I'm not sure if you noticed, but Ipos here has a goose's skull on the top of her Marotte. The skull itself is made of tin and the stabby part is made of silver. XD
I have to agree. My favourite Goetia is probably Focalor (Lucifuge Rofocale). I also of course like Ipos, Bifrons, and Astaroth. Because of past research on my part I associate Bael with Beelzebub. ^.^;

Seriously, how do you come up with so many creative characters with backstories and everything so often? (maybe it doesn't seem like "often" to you, but it's a hell of a lot more often than I do it

I have no idea in all honesty. I just get an idea (inspiration varies) and I stick with it. Ipos here has been on my mind for years though. There's a WIP of "her" in my old LJ from back when I was thinking of making her a guy too. ^.^;

Do you plan on including all of your characters in a story at some point, or are some purely for drawing/playing around with?
Maybe I just need to buckle down and try more often. I spend about 99% of my time working on stuff for CDO, so truthfully I just don't make that many attempts at creating characters.

Well, I don't really want to bog down my stories with every character I create so some of them are drawn (and made into sims) just for fun really. I mean can you really imagine Rosie Powers or Kinky Pie in NeverRealms?
Lately I've found myself rebooting old characters I made when I was a kid. It's nice to see how much they've changed and I kind of want to include some of them in NeverRealms, but I'm not sure if they're fit with the Horror/Cyberpunk/Dieselpunk theme I'm trying to go for. ^.^;

Now I'm sort of thinking about some of my super old characters and wondering if they're worth revisiting. The only thing about that is I can't remember a whole lot about most of them, and the notebooks that contained their stories have long since been thrown away.

Oh yeah I know how that feels. My oldest OC I created when I was 3 or 4 and yet as far as I know no "art" of him from that time still exists. Maybe you could try revisiting some of those old characters. Hell, I found Sylvia the Satanist amusing myself. XD
