Description These are based on the psdtuts+ address book tutorial which I've been playing around with lately. I think they make cool binder-style CS5 icons to replace the sort of flat and unexciting new CS5 "book" style default icons. There are 42 ICNS, PNGs & ICO files for 1- of the most popular apps plus generic and blank versions. Let me know if you want others.

Very weird but I got an error when I try to extract the archive, with both "The Unarchivier" and "Compression Utility"

Not sure why that is? First time I've seen this. I put an uncompressed DMG together for you (60MB!) here [link] (I see Mac OS screen shots on your profile so I am assuming). Let me know if this works better for you.

This is great stuff! I only wish there was no number on them, since I don't have CS5 yet

(That means can you make a version-generic set of these icons in a very very polite manner )

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

hotiron In reply to DreadedKilla [2010-05-10 03:06:52 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, I was thinking about that too. Without the number they could apply to any suite. I've made a set without the number and included them in the updated download. The new download is now up to 50MB and includes ICNS, PNGs and ICOs and has 42 different icons for 10 of the most popular apps in it. Whew! Go ahead and re-download and let me know if these work for you.

Thanks I think I'll love these more than Adam Betts's and those are hot icons too.

hotiron In reply to DreadedKilla [2010-05-10 15:35:24 +0000 UTC]

Thanks for the kind words but Adam is a true, talented artist and his CS kit is the real deal. My stuff is amateurish and based on a tutorial I got off of psdtuts+.

DreadedKilla In reply to hotiron [2010-05-12 10:05:34 +0000 UTC]

But your work shows that you can turn an address book into a suitable CS replacement kit. Keep on dumping hours into Photoshop and you'll come with something everyone will love!

You can grab all the PNGs here [link] I didn't include them only because the download was getting huge.

hotiron In reply to dpcdpc11 [2010-05-09 13:15:32 +0000 UTC]

I see now. Do you think the PNGs would be better than the ICOs in the main download then?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

dpcdpc11 In reply to hotiron [2010-05-09 19:18:01 +0000 UTC]

for sure... most of the dA members are Windows users... and use some kind of dock like on the MacOS... and for these docks(Rocket dock, Yz Dock, Object Dock, xWindows Dock) ICOs are no good, so the people require PNGs... even thought they can convert the ICNs in PNGs, I bet most people would rather have them in that pack, or place a link in the comment under the preview to the PNGs pack.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

hotiron In reply to dpcdpc11 [2010-05-09 20:59:55 +0000 UTC]

I think I'll replace the ICOs with the PNGs and post a link to the ICOs in the comments. Thanks for the tip. I was on Win forever but I've been a MBP for the past year and forgotten the drill. I was a big RKLauncher [link] fan back then.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

dpcdpc11 In reply to hotiron [2010-05-09 21:17:37 +0000 UTC]

that would be better idea placing the PNGs in the pack. Cool screen shot... but now you got the real thing! how does it feel to be on the mac?
is it everything you thought it would be? is it more productive?

hotiron In reply to dpcdpc11 [2010-05-09 22:20:36 +0000 UTC]

Well, I really like the Adobe Creative Suite on the Mac (and the new CS5's 64-bit support has me booting into 64-bit by default now--it's that much better) but Office and Outlook was so-o-o-o-o much better on Windows. And I think modding was a little more flexible on Win. I think it looks better on the Mac but was more fun on Win. Like life, it's all a trade-off.

dpcdpc11 In reply to hotiron [2010-05-09 23:14:03 +0000 UTC]

you're right about that... there's no perfect system, but you can always install win7 on your mac... but I can't install Leopard on my PC(not without too much trouble that is), so you can get the best of both worlds.
I think I would get bored pretty fast on a mac... on windows, like you said, the experience it's more fun.
writing this message with my Apple Keyboard... so I'm getting a bit of the taste of your world... hehehe!
