Following a string of hoodlum acts, a rumor formed in the small town that Shannon’s parents were terrible parents. No matter the rebuttal, the town silently judged the pair as they went about their daily tasks. Despite the bad rep he was producing for his family, Shannon continued creating trouble, shattering any hopes to become part of the community.

While conversing with a neighbor, they brought up how well behaved their teenage son was. The demeaning undertone of the conversation caused Shannon’s mother to flip out and defend herself.

“For your information, we’re not bad parents,” she began. “My husband and I raised an intelligent young woman whose living out of state. She’ll be in this weekend, and you can meet her yourself!”

The issue was Shannon was an only child. Panic swept over the parents as they fumbled to assess the situation before agreeing upon the story that Shannon would be attending a private school and his sister, Angelica, would be staying in town for a bit. Shannon had no choice but to dress up as his “sister” as the other option would be attending the private school. He just hopes he made the right decision.
