oh wait - I just watched a video of piaffe, having only looked at pictures previously, and the legs do pretty much resemble each other in height at the peak of the movement. The hindleg just rises a lot slower, hence showing up in photographs as being lower.

then the piaffe must be incorrect, the hind leg should not come as high as the fore leg, due to weight being trasnfered to the hind quaters and the 3 joints taking the weight (fetlock, hock and stifle), this is what we strive for, the more weight at the back the better, as this allows the front end to lighten. I will find a video of me and my lipizzaner stallion in piaffe

Oooooohhh, that video I'd love to see. I've read recently that in a technical piaffe the legs must be equal in height, but the book is a fairly outdated one. Maybe there's different opinions on it, anyway. It's funny how one person tells me the lower the hindleg the better and the other's saying the more they match the better. I'm not really sure what to think, haha. But please do find the video, if you can!

it does help! Though I've already looked at it and figured it out a bit better but... well at least I learned something new
I find it quite amusing that my redlines always need redlining themselves It won't stop me though.

Gash, I love these, they're unbelievably helpful.
The only thing is the front hoof that's nearest to us looks a bit wrong... it might just be me but I thought they normally a little less square and pointed more downwards...
Actually it's prolly just me
Thankyou for making this - REALLY helpful

I think the original hoof is a better shape than mine... but I've always unbelievably lazy/inaccurate when it comes to hooves. I don't know why, it's like I just don't bother, and so I never get better at it. I have a plan which is to make myself draw 500 of them. THEN I will know how to do it!
Glad you like it overall though.

Lol, I completely agree, I can never get hooves right! I find the bottom part of a horses leg is the hardest thing to draw!
