Description
Whole body. Still have that issue with "high hocks" but I fixed the knees. While horses can be made out of circles, I prefer more angular shapes because they are NOT flexible animals like dogs and cats. The tendency I have when using circles is to make the object I'm drawing "soft" and "flexible" Cows are a great example of a BOX animal. They look like a box. Horses are slightly more flexible than a cow, but they're still angular.
I'm also big into building up from a skeleton, because that makes sense to me. You can't bend bones, so it's a great frame work. Better than spheres or circles.

I know this is random but, I've never noticed a difference between the overall shape of the hind hooves vs. the front hooves. I'm confused as to where you're getting that from.

Heh heh...People and horses are the only things I can draw without fail. Why is that I wonder...?
Awesome tutorial...I love seeing how people do the underdrawing--as I'm trying to wean myself off of being absolutely dependent upon reference images.

This should help in my pursuit of drawing a suitable centaur. ^_^
I like the pose you used here, too.

Thanks. Centaurs not easy. They combine two of the hardest things to draw: people and horses. Good luck. :3
