This is amazing! The Hunchback of Notre Dame is one of my favorite Disney movies. You always capture him in such a perfect, awesome way. I love it!

Thank you for 'making him human' again. :3 He is outrageously turned into monster despite the real story. Poor man. *hugs Frollo*

Wow. You know what ? I watched the movie a hour ago, and I was really wondering "How can peoples like Frollo as a person ? He's an excellent villain but I don't understand why he has fangirls". This drawing explains everything. No need for words.
Amazing picture

Thank you so much. If my drawing has that effect on you, then my mission is complete. I DO want to show people that there is much more hidden depth than the film portrays. We see hints of it in Hellfire, but I want to know what makes the man tick, how he became what he was. And most of all, if he is redeemable in a completely believeable fashion.
Thank you!!!

I keep seeing this every time I pop in to check out the group's gallery, and I keep meaning to comment. So I'm gonna comment, now. I love this! I especially love his expression. You've taken a character who was, to me, a bit of a caricature and made him look incredibly human. I also love the warm colors. The effect is serene.

Thank you so much for your wonderful comment!
It is one of my creative drives, you know. He seems cardboard two dimensional, because he is a Disney Villain and we can't have deep complex emotions and blah blah..but still, once you stop to ask yourself the questions: why does he hate gypsies? What happened? Why is Quasi such a nice guy , despite being raised by a "monster"? How come Frollo hates having these feelings?Where does it all come from?
Heee...See? And those are just a few of the questions. He's so intriguing!I love making him human. Makes him even more fantastic!

When I was a child, I felt exactly that way about Maleficent. I needed to know why! I mean why would not being invited to a party upset someone so much? What happened in her past that this is such a big deal to her? She fascinated me. I always wanted to know why with villains. That's the reason I started writing, actually. The first novel I ever read told the "why" of the villain, and I believe I was in tears over her story. I decided then and there that I would write novels and always tell the villain's story.
Hugo's Frollo is my very favorite villain because his "why" is so complex and real. I feel Disney took the complexity out of him, but not entirely, if one looks really, really close. They actually divided him into two characters: Claude Frollo and the archdeacon (which was his position in the original novel). So his kindness exists in the Disney version, too, just as a completely different character. The archdeacon is his Jiminy Cricket. Over-thinking things is so fun.
I love your artwork, anyway. Thanks for letting me ramble on it.

This is just gorgeous. You did a wonderful job, and I love the color scheme, and how it's just the background colored like that. Your shading is perfect too
