Description
Storybook art for my newest brainchild:The Hanged Man
What if, what if what if....
A conceited judge took a tumble down a cathedral? What if, what if, what if.....this angry man got caught on the way down?
What if there was an interception? What if by taking away this man's life he would get an opportunity for a new one?
-- It was heart-breaking to see this once proud man lying on baba Sofia's bed. Broken. Still. Paler than death.--
I used my trusty watercolours and ballpoint combo for this illustration. I feel like I'm getting the hang of them!
Please, raise your hands if you think this man deserves a second chance! I mean, look at him!!

I can't imagine how unhappy Clopin is right now.

Soprry for the horribly late reply! Forgive me!
Thanks for the Frollo support. I still firmly believe that if someoen was to break past that emotional wall of his, he would make a real good, intelligent, passionate partner. He just fascinates me so. And I really, really believe in the raw power of Frollo and a smart, sassy Esmeralda. Power of yin/yang!

Incredible. The lighting and the attention to detail -the contours of Frollo's muscles through the fabric of his pants, the elaborate background, the stitches on the clothing- really blow me away. I'm also impressed by how well Clopin's and Esmeralda's body language conveys their feelings, even without showing us their faces. Just...WOW.

Thank you so much! It's lovely comments like yours that really make my day. Thanks!
I love the story-book approach I've adapted with this tale I'm about to spin. I've seen the Disney film so many times, and every time I saw him tumble down the Notre Dame I thought; This doesn't make sense.
So here we are. *Laughs bashfully*

*Raises hands, lots of hands* Absolutely, he deserves a second chance!
In fact, Spunky and I were brainstorming about that once, like Frollo being demoted and loosing everything, and that he also needs to peace with Quasi too. So I agree with you and love, love, love this picture and your ideas!
Second chance please! Disney was so mean with him! Disney supposed to tell stories of love and forgiveness, but still they were cruel with our beloved Minister and he was, in my opinion, doing his job!
Also, it seems like the story is told from Clopin's point of view, so the events from the movie maybe aren't the true story.
This picture is wonderful, love all the details and colours, I can imagine Clopin's expression
You are and awesome artist and I cannot wait to read the story you are working on!

Ah, you make a very good point with Clopin as story-teller. In book terms I believe they call that an "Unreliable Narrator". True.
While I believe easily that Claude is a harsh man, I cannot believe he would hurt people for fun. There is a scene ( the Mill scene, I believe), in which Esmeralda is looking at the mill being burned, and one of the woman cries: "But he's never hurt anyone before!"
So there we have it!

The woman in the movie was talking about Frollo?!
Please know how much I agree! I believe the Minister was only doing his job,
have you ever read "Frollo meets his match" book story? The story is, how I can say it? Over the top?
I think Disney would have done so much good if they had used more of Frollo from the novel, like for example, not being him the cause of Quasi's mother's death or showing scenes of him being kind. I mean, in HoND2 Phoebus had this problem with crime which never would happen if Frollo were still in charge.
I do not understand what Disney has against authority figures and serious characters, why the good ones are almost always cheerful and stereotypical?

I think she was!
Well, he may have had his motives, but I don't think some of them were really pure, he IS after all obsessed with a certain green-eyed girl...
I haven't but I've heard the synopsis from Christine, I find it hard to believe that Frollo would fall for such a superficial trick. I mean he's driven, but not insane ( at least not there yet, all bets are off at the end of the film...)
I agree with that! It would have painted more of a picture of an anti-here, not a villain, necessarily. Disney needs to fit people into easy labelled areas, it makes it all the more easy to recognize for the young 'uns! But we know better now

I am fairly happy with the way Claude looks too, you can see he's pretty banged up, but he looks tough as nails. I'm sure that with some TLC, he'll be right as rain. Sexy rain, that is.

Coloring this one was an ordeal, but I had sooooo much fun. I really cannot recommend those nifty little jars of ink enough to anyone. They are awesome.
Well, we're all here to re-balance The Froll-meister, aren't we? No pain, no Gain.
(Though to be honest, it had to be a miracle how he survived that fall down the Notre Dame...)

Your traditional art skill is amazing, I'd like to try that kind of coloring too, but sadly concerning traditional art the only thing I can do is drawing, coloring is out of my league!
Yup, a real miracle...Did Quasi throw him again? That's what he gets for being nasty!
