Witchtober Day 4, Owl

It's rare for Helfysir to catch sight of an owl who isn't someone's familiar. He'll hear them often enough, their calls echoing into the jagged clutches of Stonehaven from the lower forests. Yet even when he traverses into their usual habitats, he tends to avoid them. They're a predator he respects; he's seen them hunting in the night, acting like a creature all their own. Were he a smaller animal, he'd fear them. Even as he is, the sight of the largest species evokes a subtle intimidation.

A chance event, however, allows him a sight of one from above and for as long as it lasts, he admires it for another reason and prays it carries no ill omen on its wings.
