Two weeks following the second wave of unexplained deaths, Vashti loses her patience and breaks Osirus's orders to remain within Tundes territory. By the following morning, she is found at the edge of the Magellan Brook just outside the bulk of Kol land by none other than a Kol wolf. Although her inquiries of the Kol's recently dead ultimately fail to soothe her concerns, something else sparks between her and the stranger who calls himself Orpheus.
