With her children growing stronger and wiser every day under the tutelage of their mentors, Ysenlin finds more time at her disposal. When she isn't caring for a patient, these hours are often spent alone, out along the mountain meadows and within the lofty dales where she can find the last viable herbs of summer.

It isn't something she's used to; she's spent so long adoring those she's loved, it's strange to finally be on her own with time to observe her jagged heart. She can find it in the mountains when they're cast in sunset light. Beautiful as they are, the painted peaks remind her of stone circles and wolf's blood on her teeth.
