Yeah, since they didn't appear before Gen III (although, chronologically, R/S/E are set at the sime time as R/B/Y (and FR/LG), which is before G/S/C, so Oak knows about them.

OVER 9000!!!! (well, after like ten years, maybe). Well, technically Mudkips are discovered in Gen III, which happens at the same time (in universe) as Gen I. Gen II is after gen I (and happens at the same time as Gen IV), so Mudkips are discovered by then (in-universe). Thus, Oak knows about them as a PokΓ©mon researcher, though Hoenn is far away from both Johto and Kanto, so most people (like Max) don't know about them. Oh, and why I called the guy Max and not Gold/Ethan? Well, I picked that name most of the time when playing the game, I liked it. Was one of the premade ones in Silver (along with "KAMON", "OSCAR" and "SILVER").

i did not know the chronological order of the games at all...
just that gen 2 was a few years after gen 1
and i always use the name Cool followed by a number
Cool- Silver, Sapphire and LG
Cool2- Platinum
Cool3- Sapphire (restarted it so i could save the masterball)
Cool4- Soul Silver
if i got Black or White, it'd be Cool5

Silver, then Sapphire, then Platinum, then my restarted Sapphire save, then Soul Silver
... LG ended up having no number because by the time i got it, both of the original "Cool" files were gone (silver was stolen )
