Today was a big day for the smallest S-CORP experimentation facility. An offshoot of Weastside's largest technological corporation responsible for advanced consumer products like the Hammer-Space Bag and the Insta-Projector, the facility existed as a new testing ground for inventions and products that the main headquarters and laboratories were developing. Up until now it simply tested on mice and the like, but this was the first experiment that the higher-ups specifically permitted them to bring in humans to carry out the process. The project they were working on was a corroboration of various shape-shifting gadgets, machines and programs that could meld the human mind and body like it were putty, basically creating life anew from a single organism; granted, they'd tested this caliber of experiment before in many different forms, but this rendition was the first that was meant to test if it worked on humans. And what better way to test if things work with humans than to bring in some actual humans? Only a group of around thirty people were employed in this building (with only five being handlers of this experiment), and it got kind of lonely working in the sterile lab environment all day, so getting to see some actual people during work hours was a welcome change of pace. After much deliberation, the team decided on dogs to morph people into, because they were familiar to the general public, had a lot of wiggle room for size and shape with the different breeds, and everyone just wanted an excuse to play with cute dogs during work. (they were shallow like that)
"So, Andrea, are those ads up yet?" Mark, a tall, toned-looking man with medium-length jet black hair asked of his coworker. The most authoritative of the five, he felt that this experiment would help him lighten up a bit, while internally, he couldn't help but feel lucky that S-CORP pushed for this serum to come to fruition so much, otherwise they wouldn't have purchased so much ad space.
"Hmm...Yep, here they are," Andrea replied. She was the most dog-savvy of the group, having a bunch of experience walking dogs in her adolescence and with many different breeds. She bore an almost motherly appearance, being in her mid-thirties with her straight but long light brown hair and her slightly wrinkled, heavily freckled face. "How about those supplies, Barry?"
"Everything is here and accounted for," Barry stated. The newest hire, Barry was naturally the hungriest for reputation among his coworkers, trying to do as much he could, even if it meant being rash and snarky about his demeanor. You could definitely tell he was the youngest, due to his striking short blonde hair, and bright eyes that screamed, "I'm ready!" He looked through their online shopping history to see if they bought everything needed, and sure enough, every last collar, dog bed, crate, toy, and food item was in place.
"Rooms are secured and ready," Zoe told. From the tone of her voice, she was the most free-spirited of the four on this project, with her dark brown appearance (everything from her skin, to her hair, to her eyes were around the same pigment) helping calm any situation, big or small. Granted, she was also pretty absent-minded and prone to not knowing what to do sometimes, but they still liked having her around.
"Alright, everything seems ready to go!" Monica chimed. A very happy individual with a constantly smiling face and brightly colored hair that signified a person who was happy with everything, Monica almost seemed like she harbored the spirit of a dog herself. She sometimes would come across as annoying, but her attitudes were appreciate among the workplace.
"At least if shipping doesn't go out the window," Barry retorted. Weastside postal services were notoriously rough and unreliable with their packages. Hopefully, the recipients being of a prestigious company like S-CORP would make the people involved with the package handle it with more care (that and the large size of the order).

A few days passed, with the entry forms for the experiment involved coming in at a decent rate from people curious about what becoming a dog would feel like. It certainly was unheard of to literally become an animal, so naturally it would be interesting for some to take the plunge. Out of the thousand people who signed up for the program, every fiftieth being selected to take part of the program, resulting in twenty winners, eager to see what lied ahead of them. It was only a matter of time before the winners reported to the facility on their first day, and upon seeing the interior, they were impressed with how it looked at first glance. Everything was homely and comforting in a good way, almost like they were in summer camp, but instead of them being taught how to start a fire or sleep in tents they were being taught how to be good companions and sleep in dog beds.
"First, come with us to the cafeteria," Mark formally began, leading everyone in a single-file line. Inside the room was a simple setup with two fake wood grain tables, in which ten sat at a time, five on each side.
"Okay, first room down to business!" Barry started. "Here's where you'll have your meals. Once you start with the dog food, no more tables for you - just bowls with your names on 'em on the floor. Over there's a bathroom, but you shouldn't get used to them. You'll know in due time what that means."
"So the very first thing you'll be doing will be answering these questionnaires," Zoe introduced. "Your answer should affect the kind of dog you will turn into, but you should still answer honestly anyway."
"At the end of this survey is a waiver about the rules of this experiment," Andrea explained. "If you have a question, just ask any of us."
"Oh!" Monica mentioned. "We almost forgot to introduce ourselves! Shall we start?"
"I'll start. My name's Mark, and you can think of me as the 'leader' of the operation here. I'll answer anything if you ever feel unsure of yourself. And yes, I'm comfortable answering to the name 'Dad.'"
"I'm Andrea, and I've loved dogs my whole life. Always walked them, and I'd like to think I'm an expert at sweet-talking. And now that Mark mentioned it, I'm more than comfortable being called 'Mommy' or 'Mom.'"
"The name's Barry. Don't have much to say here, except don't call me 'Dad.' Just Barry would be fine, guys."
"Oh...so I'm Zoe. I'll be a pretty lenient handler of you all, so I should be the one you relax with. I'm fine with whatever name you call me."
"Yeah! Monica's the name, and I'll be the one to shower you with the most love ever! Think of me as your mother always!"
Once everyone finished their questionnaires and signed at the dotted line, Mark transitioned, "Before we continue the tour of the facility, do any of you have any questions?"
Several people raised their hands.
"You first," Mark pointed to a short, brown-haired woman.
"So, what is going to happen to our personal belongings while we're dogs, like my house and job?"
"Oh, don't worry about any of that unless you want the transformation to be permanent. This experiment will only last around a month, and everything in your lives will be worked out by other S-CORP employees. If you want to stay like this, though, we'll be sure to hand your belongings to your loved ones to take care of, while we put you up for adoption."
"You, with the big eyes," Barry, this time answered a stray hand.
"Are we going to be neutered?"
"Uh, yes. It's more like you'll transform into a neutered dog, guy. One thing we're doing is renting out all these dogs for you to learn from, and we don't want any, you know...accidental pregnancies with their dogs."
"Hmm...last one," Andrea answered the last person.
"Uh...did we need to bring anything to this experiment?"
"No, definitely not. We're going to supply you with all your food, like Barry said earlier, and you're all sleeping in some nifty sleeping bags for now! You'll get proper dog beds later on, though."
"Okay, so now that the questioning is done, let's get on with the tour," Mark urged the group. "We have a fair bit to cover, so we need to pick up the pace."
Out of the cafeteria the group went, and into a long, gray hallway with doors on each side almost structured like a prison, which was only further accentuated with the gray, lifeless interiors of the rooms.
"Whoa, are we going to live in here?" a lone voice questioned, wondering if their lives for the next month would be spent in a cold, sterile lab environment.
"Yep!" Barry quipped. 'But you haven't seen the best part of these rooms..."
Pulling out a remote, Barry clicked a button inside a random room. Over the course of half a minute, the gray patterned walls and floors morphed into a sunny beach shoreline, with layers of sand on the ground and a crisp breeze escaping the room. Another click, and the beach closed in on itself, creating walls and a ceiling, to form a cozy living room with a recliner situated next to a fireplace and everything. One more click, and all the details vanished, reverting the room to normal.
All the participants were in awe, mouths agape as to how a room like that could simulate real locations as well as it did.
"And that's the power of the Holo-Room!~" Monica boasted.
"Ah...you shouldn't get used to having things like a beach every day. We'll mainly use the Holo-Room to put you in a situation of being a dog. It has to cool down overnight, so you'll have to sleep in the dog beds anyway," Zoe explained, chuckling slightly.
Their next stop was on a relatively high balcony, overseeing a large field.
"Over there, is our large play field. You'll only go there on some occasions, when you all go out together. Over here is where you're gonna, you know..." Andrea introduced the group to the place.
"So that will be the end of the tour for now," Mark ended. "For the rest of the day, I advise you get used to this facility. Just look around and take in your surroundings while we evaluate your surveys."
The rest of the day passed until sundown, when dinner was served. It was just a simple steak dinner, but at least it would be a harbinger for their diets to come. It was almost a snap for night to pass, and for the next day to begin, and the results were handed back one by one to each participant.
Surely, the next month was going to be interesting.

Thank you for commenting! Don't expect much of this particular story anytime soon; I kind of get demotivated writing specific concepts and move on to others after a while.

Uh...okay? I'm not sure what your comment was trying to convey there, but I kind of knew that was a joke. What were your thoughts on the actual story? I'm curious.

I enjoy it. What is this S-Corp of which you speak?

Oh, it's kind of this large technology company. Think something along the lines of Apple or IBM, only producing sci-fi type inventions.

And what is the reason behind animal testing?

Oh, just to see if the human form can be transformed into something else entirely. This is kind of just a test of various tech to achieve their goals. Honestly wasn't completely concerned with their end goals, haha.
