Self-indulgent doodle of Guinevere Kora, one of Hobbs’ devotees.

Kora is hands down my favorite antag that I’ve made so far. I’m happy with how she’s developed as of yet, happy with how she’s fit into instrumental parts of my protag’s arcs, and very happy to have an edgy ass villain I can go mad with.

Still smoothing out details, but most important thing to know about Kora, she can read people’s fears and manipulate their minds into vivid illusions of living them out. This includes her own. I think Kora’s always had a screw loose somewhere, but she really started going off the rails sooomewhere between getting her DO and her license as a neurosurgeon... Kora’s a bloody genius, exceedingly talented, a creative and innovative problem solver, but her biggest fear was slipping up, doing something wrong, making a miscalculation, harming a person instead of healing them. Without really knowing about her ability or how to manage it, she began tapping into her own fear and driving herself mad by unconsciously exaggerating it in her mind, making herself live in constant paranoia, second guessing herself, and really believing she was messing up somewhere. She finally tipped over the edge and came to the unfortunate conclusion that the only way to get rid of the oppressive fear was to face it in the most tangible way possible, purposefully living it out and surviving it.
Several accounts of wanton medical malpractice later, unrestrained curiosity, the unfortunate, bloody death of her worried husband, and an open armed embrace of psychosis, Hobbs somehow runs into her and offers her a job involving less than ethical research into ESP and other preternatural abilities, their biological aspects, and how they may be manipulated through a greater scientific understanding of their interplay with the human body. Kora can’t really say no to that...
No one in GK really.. likes? Kora. It’s uncomfortable to have someone around who knows your greatest fears and could easily paralyze you with them. She could honestly find a way take down Hobbs with relative ease if she had the motivation to. But she’s quite happy with what she’s doing now.
