Naw it's not a captain america rip, it looks like captain america ate Mr. T and then went to the gym to do some core exercises and had to pull his gun out on those chicks who are always bogarding the swiss ball.

That hair is funky. I think he's got a bit too much going on with color choices, but he looks dangerous, that's for sure.

Question, how do you do your line art? You draw directly on the computer? Have you ever considered using the pen tool, stroking paths to smooth out your lines? That's how I do my digital inks. It's a bit tricky to learn, but easy to master.

I think he looks like a clown, but that is kinda what I was going for.
I trace my sketches that I have scanned with my pen & tablet. I did try the pen tool a few times but I get a bit frustrated with the process... impatience I guess, but you are right your inks have no flaws that I could see, so I will give it another try.

I can give you some pointers if you like. My digital inking has become easy and fun for me because I use Photoshop actions to take the tedium out of it. For instance, I make a path, then (because of the action I programmed), I fill the path and delete it in one keystroke.

Basically I 'trace' my pencil work by drawing pen paths around the lines and filling the paths with black. The paths make smooth, crisp lines and since I'm the one making the shape of the paths (and not relying on the computer to do it), the line work still maintains the natural, artistic look.

The pen tool is kind of hard to learn for some, I've found. But that just happens to be the very first thing I ever learned how to use in Photoshop, in digital imaging class when I used to attend the Art Institute of Philadelphia, so I've come to appreciate its nuances above most of Photoshop's other selection tools.

LOL when I was in college the computer still had slots for the giant floppy disks! I am only now learning photoshop. I will say this though, when I ink I often change flaws in the pencilwork. So the pen tool may be a viable third step, if I intend to keep the lines showing. I would love to know how you do this though, I just tried again... and I just don't get it, but I think I am a bit impatient.

I suppose I need to make an updated digital inking tutorial. When I get home from work tonight I'll try to put together a little step-by-step. But for now I'll say this:

1. When I scan a sketch into the computer, I turn my lines light blue and put a transparent layer above the bottom layer (for the digital inks). To turn your lines light blue (or any color you want), create a layer above your pencils, fill it with the color you want, and change the blending mode to Overlay. (Make sure your image is in RGB or CMYK mode first.) After that, merge the filled layer with your pencil layer and the drawing should look as if you drew it in a colored pencil. I do this so I can ink comfortably while still being able to see the pencil work.

2. Using the pen tool, I create paths on the transparent layer above the original sketch. I never make any changes to the sketch layer itself (other than changing the color). In fact, when I'm done inking, I delete the pencil sketch layer; it's no longer needed after that.

3. When all I have left are crisp clean digitally-inked lines, I put a new layer (or fill the bottom layer) with white so I can clearly see the inked lines, and I put a new transparent layer under the ink layer for colors.

I have the whole aforementioned process programmed under one Photoshop action so when I'm ready to start inking, I just hit a keystroke and have at it.

I've been doing it for so long that it's like second nature to me; in fact sometimes I draw really roughly and ignore some mistakes in a drawing simply because I plan to digi-ink.

I didn't get a chance to hook up the images I wanted to for the tutorial but I'm hoping to have time this weekend. Might be a while though, but I'll put it together.
