Y'know, Once-ler has such a wonderful design in this movie. They softened him up so much from the original and made him truly loveable and he just seems the more sincere sort of character by comparison.
This picture has a nice feel to it. What does it say in the back?

Yes, I agree with you completely!! I was actually surprised at how they were able to have this transition, and made him someone the audience could relate to, instead of, like in the book, just being a pair of arms with nary a good feeling.
Thank you! I really appreciate your kind words. It's supposed to say "Biggering", but alas, it's rather hard to distinguish as such, and I apologise

I thought it might have been biggering...but it kinda looked like brrrrring, like a phone ringing, which confused me lol.
I think it was wise for the character of Once-ler to be like us. We all can relate to him in some form or fashion, pity him, and even make excuses for him. Yet for all his "villainish" behavior, you still can't help but love him, since he's not an EVIL villain...just...kind of an idiot with good intentions who got blind-sided by the greed of his family and his own success. I mean, he ends up so sincerely sorry that you can't really be mad at him. You almost just have to pity him.
Here's MY question: How does only Granny Norma remember trees and the Once-ler? I mean, a lot of people in Thneedville knew of the Once-ler and the thneed. How does no one OWN their thneeds anymore? Surely there would be SOME history to the town, with the product being what built it. That makes me wonder if Once-ler is the one who actually owns the town. While he has no business, he was very wealthy...and if invested properly, he could live very comfortably on his past success. I suppose I'm just looking way too deeply into the matter.
In the cartoon version, Once-ler was himself celebrated for his creation of Thneedville. The people sang praises to him, practically worshipped him. Yet it seems only ONE person even KNEW of the Once-ler in the movie...when it's so obvious other people would remember him...like O'Hare, since he was a kid at the demise of the thneed's reign. It also makes me wonder, if Thneedville is its own entity, does that mean the rest of that land is all Once-ler's property?
Again, like I said, perhaps I think TOO deeply. I love back-story and explanations. With the character given a lot of depth, I just keep craving more.
