A little 6-page story I did a few years back. The drawing looks pretty "iffy" to me now but I still like the concept.

Looking at pages like this, I think about how I can tighten up my inking and improve my light/shade like on the kid's hair.

Well, what I'm starting to realize is that my pages should be tight without color as well as with it so that it can be printed in b/w. Alot of my compositions fall apart without the color. I really appreciate your thoughtful benevolence it has helped me improve, and become more aware of what my objectives should be.

I think it's sensible to ink drawings somewhat differently when they are intended to be coloured though; I know I do. That being said, lots of solid blacks are nearly always a good thing. Wally Wood supposedly advised artist, when inking, to, "Go through and black in everything that should be black, then go through again and black in everything that maybe should be black, THEN go through a third time and black in a bunch of stuff that probably shouldn't be black at all!"
I'm paraphrasing but that was the gist of it. Sounds crazy in a way but, man, those solid blacks really anchor a page down so I know what he was saying. Besides, who's going to argue with Wally Wood about comics?!
I don't see anything wrong with the way you're doing things though. Just keep going. I'm really digging your stuff and I'm frankly a bit jealous of your speed!

I don't think it's something you can plan. My first DD on here was a little goofy gag I did of the Grim Reaper that was basically just me messing around with a new brush pen. But your whole little comic is great!

I'm still not completely clear how it all works but I guess someone just suggests a piece to "the powers that be" and if they agree, it's a DD. It's pretty cool anyway - although it's meant I've been thanking so many people the system thought I was a spambot and wouldn't let me post anything for a while!

Yep, that's pretty much how it works! I used to thank everyone who favorited or followed me and now after about 20 or so it starts blocking them as spam. Now I only comment back if they leave a comment of add me to their devwatch list. The first time I got a DD it took me almost a week to thank all the favoriters and commenters! I haven't been spending as much time on here as I used to, even though I check in every day, but I started letting the messages build up and eventually just deleted them all.

It took me about 3 days to thank everyone but I got 'er done! I am on here too much but it's the only social site I really go to. I probably log onto Facebook about once a week for 5 minutes but that's it. B-o-o-o-o-r-r-ring. Also, how do you tell someone that if you haven't talked to them since highschool there's probably a reason?!
And I just don't get the Twitter thing at all. I can't imagine anything much less enjoyable than being privy to every thought that crosses some brain-dead celebrity's mind; "Oh, look. Oprah's poop had corn in it this morning!". I DON'T CARE! I don't really understand who IS "twittering" since people my age and older don't seem to be, and my kids and their friends aren't (late teens). Must be 20s and 30s I guess.
I did find I had to leave a couple of Groups here on DA since the amount of work I had to slog through was just becoming too much. Unfortunately one of those was the DA Canada Group but I hate hockey and Tim Horton's so I'm already a pretty lousy Canuck!
