Description watercolors. part of a concentration from last year.
butterflies interacting with and within the human body.
humans are so complex and strong and to contrast with that is the butterflies that are simple, small and fragile.

to me it is the unsatisfaction of wanting something more than what you have and not appreciating your
own and it shows that while you reach for what you do not have you are killing yourself.. or harming
yourself with what you have already by neglecting it..

This is amazing! My interpretation would be somone finding a way to "freedom" by cutting themselves...the butterflies coming out of the wound symbolize freedom as well as beauty. Odd that you would pair such a beautiful animal with such an unbeautiful topic, however. But from reading other notes on this, I realize this is probably not what you meant by this painting, but that's how I see it. I love how vibrant the colors are - it seems like watercolors don't normally get that bright. Good job. I love this. I'm posting it as a favorite.

to begin with, thanks!
i liked to read your interpretation. no it doesn't represent cutting (the butterfly is going in) but if thats how you see it, it's cool.
i tried doing watercolors my own way by messing with them. i do use a lot of layers to get vibrant colors. people keep telling me they haven't seen watercolors that bright or used like that. i don't really like watercolors how they normally look though.
anyway- thanks again

At first, I fell in love with the vibrant colors and how they are ravishingly beautiful, but I thought that this painting refered to cutting and the so called "release" that it brings, sorry, don't agree with that theory, but then I seen that the butterfly that was not dead was flying toward the hand instead of away like a release. So, maybe, this painting could be a smaller scale of humans. Example.....Humans, compared to Earth or God, we are so small and fragile like the butterfly. In this painting, The hand is the higher power and the butterfly is the fragile life that lives under that power. Not only is that a way to look at this painting, but maybe since the butterflies represent the life in the universe, maybe the painting is saying that for every life that passes, a new one comes along. It's begining and end, death and rebirth. The dead butterfly leaves and in flies the living on, embracing life, ready to live. Sorry to write so much, but I love the painting, very exquisite. Crazily enough, the colors and the way you painted it gives a feeling of chaos in slow motiong or the hand that is still is tranquility and the fiery colors in the background is life in all its insanity. I would love to here what you have to say to my humoungous comment!

wow, don't be sorry, i loved your comment. you actually made me think about my piece in a different way. i like to hear what people see in my work. good job No the picture definately does not represent release or cutting. i don't agree with that kind of think either, but lets not go into that. the butterfly is burrowing into the wrist instead of flying out (that was my original idea, but again that would be more related to "release"). the hand is welcoming the other butterfly. i like how you described it. it can all be based around 'contrast' from the colors to the death/rebirth, peace/chaos...theres a lot of things if you look into it. i say that the humans are strong complex beings and butterflies are seen as fragile, simple creatures. its all related to the body or works, not just theis piece. In this one though the butterfly is actually showing some power, some force...but the hand is welcoming (not showing pain) and the butteflies can live inside as one with the human. now im getting lost in thoughts...but theres definately different views on this. some people say it shows love, or how peace can go wrong. the colors (red orange) make it seem chaotic and the roughness too. the blue makes areas seems like its calm or glowing with hope within all that. i don't know if that helps explain what i was thinking. thanks again

Whatever you were thinking, my freind, it all came out creatively beautiful. The best artwork, I think, is a finished piece that started out as something small or with one main objective and can be interpreted as something totally different in so many different ways and can have so much more meaning than what the pretty surface shows, and all on accident. You try to display the one thing that is in your mind as simply as you can and you end up with something very complex within. I love it. I AM RETARDED! I TOTALLY did not even check out your gallery! WOW! Someone is a little short on what we like to call brain cells! Whee ooooh! I shall go doith that now! Peace! Keep up the good work!

i agree (with the artwork thing, not the brain cells...i'm sure you've got a couple )
a lot of must stuff ends up being like that. its fun to just go with things.
