I absolutely adore the colors in this, The butterflies are colored beautifully. It's very passionate In my opinon, I love how this flows. This reminds me of my collage assignment that I did. It was a monarch I had cut out and pasted on the tip of a girls tongue. It looked fantastic. I think I'll post it sometime.

Yet again, you have something really beautiful here, I can't believe this is done in watercolors. I'm still practicing with them. I'm an amateur painter I suppose you could say. But I definately have to favorite this one.

This reminds me of Sublime's music. If you're familiar with the band I say this only because they disguise something hideous or depressing with upbeat music. Beautiful butterfly feasting on flesh. Thats some sort of paradox. The image is beautiful and well balanced. The cool blue keeps the image from being monotonous and drowning the viewer in somber oranges and allows for greater interpretation of the image. Great job.

Also, don’t be offended, but looking back on it, it sorta reminds me of that one Simpson’s episode where the butterfly went into Homers arm.

lovely use of colour - ive been trying to do hands for a while now, and i think (but only think!) that ive almost got it, except for the wrist area, where i cant get the crease marks of the skin. this skin creasing in this is absoloutley amazing, and the shadows just perfect. is the butterfly gnawing away at the flesh?

xx

the butterfly is trying to burrow into the wrist. thanks again

that is absolutely amazing! i'm am extremely impressed that you created this beautiful piece with watercolor...impressed and jelous...

how long have you been creating art & how long have you been experimenting with watercolor?

if you're interested in another person's interperetation, i simply saw it as an illustration of how beauty can come from disaster.

hyperballad22 In reply to drainingraven [2005-05-06 21:42:10 +0000 UTC]

"beauty can come from disaster" very true, i like that you saw that in it.
i've been doing art since elementry school since we had art clsses then...all the way up through high school and its what i like.
last year i started working with watercolors. i never liked them until i really just started to play around with it. i think my first real "experiment" is the "didn't you love me?" one with the hearts.
thanks!

The thumbnail does NOT do this piece justice. I'm very glad I took the time to Full-View and enjoy. The composition is good but it is truly the colors that are the best part of this piece, to me, especially with the shading of your gorgeous butterflies.
