"And just what were you THINKING?!" Alma huffed as she healed the minor scrapes and bruises the wyngling had gotten for his escapade, she had been lecturing Dynall for the past half and hour about how, and he quotes, 'reckless and dangerous' his little stunt was. In his opinion, she was blowing it COMPLETELY out of proportion, after all, the risk he had taken had been calculated. And he was good at math... He thinks.
"Well, you see," He began, and the motherly caretaker sighed. She knew what was coming. This little wyngling had a habit of explaining in extreme detail about exactly WHAT he was thinking when on one of his adventures. "One day, just a normal day, I was walking up those exact stairs and thought, 'I could totally make a jump from here to there,' here being the second floor and there being the landing between the first and second floors!"
"So, I did a bit of experimenting outside!" His eyes seemed to shine a bit with pride, if this little guy had any common sense, he certainly didn't show it. "I stared with jumping off of smaller objects! Ya know, small steps, boxes, and working my way up. From what I learned, I determined that I could, in fact, jump from the second floor to the landing with minimal injury!" Then his expression soured a bit, the look that appeared when something you didn't see coming happens.
"What I DIDN'T think of was how I would also be jumping forward in order to reach the landing. Ya know, momentum and stuff." Alma didn't know where he'd learned such a word, but she knew it wasn't from a book. He despised those with a passion. "Like, REALLY! I know about all that sciencey stuff, but I just overlooked it!" His face then did another complete 180 as another smile broke out on his face. "But now I know that for future experiments! Maybe I can even retry the stairs again!"
Alma paused, her hands going to her hips. That wasn't a good sign, Dynall had seen first-paw just what each of her poses meant. This was punishment. "Oh no you don't! I am enlisting the help of the other wynglings to help keep you from doing something foolish like that again! No experimenting in the Nook for you! I'm sorry, but this is for your own good." Dynall visibly deflated at these words and refused to look at her. Alma's tried to comfort him and picked the little one up, rubbing his back. "You have such a great brain, Dynall! If you applied yourself, maybe read a few books, you could probably give some grown ups a run for their money, but you're too reckless."
"Why would I want to read something out of a book, though?" He sniffled, "They're boring, there are so many more interesting ways to figure things out! Why should I trust a stuffy old book when I can learn it for myself?..."
The two sat still, just enjoying each other's company. Then Alma sighed, holding the wyngling at eye level, hoping for at least a little understanding. "I guess can't stop you from having your adventures completely..." He perked up a bit at her tone, meeting her eyes, "But, please, be more careful... If you are going to continue, just don't hurt yourself. Use a bit of sense. I know you have some in that crazy, little head of yours." She set Dynall down, who now had a gigantic smile on his muzzle.
"Thank you, thank you, thank you!" He nuzzled into her side before making a dash for the door. "I promise to not hurt myself! Cross my heart!" He was just about outside when he stopped and turned to her with an expression like he didn't like what he would say next. "And... I'll try reading. TRY. And only because you want me to." He then dashed off, hopefully to another, less dangerous venture.

Sorry if the story is sucky, haven't actually WRITTEN anything in a long time. I need to get into practice. qwq
So, about a week ago, I was thinking about how my little guy's personality and his liking for danger might get him into trouble in the Nook, and this came to mind. Though, I'm not sure what the inside of the Nook looks like, so it's just speculation~
