Maxine "Max" Gibson is Terry McGinnis' best friend. She is the rock that keeps Batman leveled. Also, she is the first person other then Bruce Wayne to know that Terry and Matman were one in the same. She always thought of herself as the unofficial Sidekick to Batman. the only one he could turn to in a time of need.

That was then. This is now.

Ever since Jack Drake and Melanie Walker took up the roles of Robin and Batgirl respectively, Terry has more family then he can handle, sadly edgeing Max out.

Now max lives a normal life. Normal school. Normal friends. Normal everything. And Max hates every second of it.

However, Max comes up with an idea. Since she can't be partnered with one Batman, why not try another. She goes to Wayne Manor in an attempt to take on Terry's job as Bruce Wayne's official gopher. Bruce wants nothing of it, perfering to keep Terry. But when Max is ready to give up, it happens.

Bruce Wayne clutches onto his chest and collapses. A heart attack. Worried and alone, Max is able to drag Bruce out of the cave and into the mansion, keeping his identity a secret, before calling 911.

If Max wasn't there, Bruce would have died.

Bruce is kept at Gotham general for a few days, but the work of the Bat-Family doesn't stop. However, without an extra set of eyes, Batman simply doesn't have the edge he usually does. That is until Max slips into the Batcave again and hacks the Batcomputer.

Max's computer tactics and knowledge proves to be a major advantage to the Family, eventually helping Batman, Robin, and Batgirl stop Anarky, a new villian who looked to destroy all of Gotham.

When Bruce returns and learns about Max's 'computer work', he is livid, going so far as to ban her from the Batcave. That's when Terry steps forward, telling Bruce how Max saved the day, saved Gotham, and even saved Bruce directly. She's a hero, and Terry demands Bruce admit it.

Bruce may be stubborn, but he's not stupid. he knows that he simply cannot stay in the Batcave 24/7. he needs an extra set of hands, and if anyone is qualified to be those hands, its Max.

Max is welcomed into the family, given a schedule of when she will be on duty, working the Batcomputer and assisting the Family in any missions.

Finally, Bruce gives Max a codename. A name she will be addressed by over comlinks to keep her identity a secret.

That is the day Maxine "Max" Gibson earns her codename.
