Reboot Idea #48"L.O.D"
Ras Al Ghul has always seen the Batman to be his greatest ally...and his greatest nemesis. Throughout his many lives, Bruce Wayne was the only real threat Ras has ever faced, but through their battles (the last of which led to Ras carving a bat symbol across his own chest as a reminder of their war). However, Wayne did the one thing that finally crossed the line...
He quit.
Without Bruce Wayne as Batman, Ras' ultimate plan for a worthy successor has turned, and the only way the war could continue was for Bruce to once again become the Bat. So, he devises a new plan. A new plan darker, and more twisted then ever before.
To drive the Batman to his limits, he would need an army. An army made up of the individuals who were formed together during the great Crisis.
Supernova, formerly known as The Parasite.
Eclipso, once known as Jean Lorring. Wife of the Atom.
Cheshire.
Mr. Freeze.
Zoom.
Bombshell.
Dr. Polaris.
Black Beetle.
Mirror Master.
Black Manta.
Merlyn.
Ares, the God of War.
Together, they are more then a simple army of villains.
They are a Legion of Doom, and this is the story of how they are formed, and how the world will be ready to face a threat like no other...

I do like how you blended some of the newer characters of that year (2012) with some established characters. I do see the points made by some of the detractors though about how well some of these characters would work together.Β I do think that Ras and Areas would definitely be fighting for leadership of this group.Β I also do think that you have some villains who have a few of the same opponents thrown together which might be okay, yet might end up with them focusing on that particular opponent.

I don't know... There's a lot of things with this team that don't really make sense to me.
First, Ra's replacing his League of Shadows/Assassins (who would go as far as killing themselves if he ordered them) by a team of colorful supervillains is definitely not his style. He loathes them just as much as he loathes superheroes. Ra's prefers when the people working for him are subservient little puppets. These guys are just too wild and independent for his tastes. The only two people here who have any loyalty to him are Cheshire and Merlyn.
This team looks more like something Vandal Savage or Gorilla Grodd would assemble.
I hate it when people try to turn Mr Freeze into a dumb villain. The animated series made an awesome job of revamping this villain and giving him much more depth of character. He really doesn't belong on a team like that.
Why would Ares, the freakin' God of War, work FOR someone? Why would a powerful being like him, who can wipe the floor with this whole team with both arms tied behind his back, settle for anything less than the position of leader? I just don't see him as the type to associate himself with "mortals".
Also, I'm really curious about how you would do a comic book based on this. Don't get me wrong, I really like comic books with a villain as the main protagonist (I was so disappointed when DC stopped the new Deathstroke comic book after 20 (21 if you count issue 0) issues), but I just don't see how to do it with this team. Since their main opponent seems to be Bruce Wayne and Checkmate, wouldn't it just make more sense to include them in the "Checkmate" comic?

As much as I don't want to agree with ragdollfun there, this looks more like a Secret Society of Supervillians thing - Ra's, Ares, Zoom, Eclipso (who looks to be taking fashion queues from the Creeper), even Manta - they all run their own show. Β The rest of them (save Freeze unless he's blackmailed) are minions and definitely not in the same league.
That aside I am diggin' some of the designs there.

...man.. now THIS is one hell of an idea.
Yeeah this one will totally work.. I'd LOVE to see how this one would pan out, that's for sure.

Though.. i have to admit.. your Mirror Master is adorable.
